Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Application Support Engineer to support critical applications and reporting workflows within investment banking and capital markets environments. The role will focus on BAU support, system maintenance, release and deployment activities, and ensuring stability of applications and infrastructure.

The candidate will work closely with business and technology teams to manage production environments, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing enhancements, ensuring smooth functioning of applications used by trading, risk and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

·         Provide end-to-end application support for production systems, ensuring high availability and stability.

·         Perform BAU activities, including monitoring, troubleshooting and resolving production issues.

·         Manage and support deployment and release processes, including coordination with development and infrastructure teams.

·         Perform patching, upgrades and maintenance activities across applications and environments.

·         Support Citrix and Windows-based environments, including system monitoring, logging and issue resolution.

·         Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application performance, connectivity and data flows.

·         Work with SQL databases to investigate data issues and support reporting workflows.

·         Develop and maintain scripts (Unix/Shell) for automation, monitoring and operational efficiency.

·         Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes for application deployment and release management.

·         Collaborate with Front Office, Risk, Finance and Operations stakeholders to handle support requests and change requirements.

·         Ensure proper incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and documentation of issues and fixes.

·         Maintain system logs, monitoring dashboards and alerting mechanisms for proactive issue detection.

Qualification Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Skills Required

Required skills

  • Strong experience in application support within banking / financial services environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Citrix and Windows system administration, monitoring and logging.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux and Shell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong experience with SQL and database querying.
  • Experience in deployment management, release processes and patching activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, infrastructure and data layers.
  • Experience working in production/BAU support environments with SLA adherence.
  • Good understanding of incident management, problem management and RCA processes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Good to have skills

  • Exposure to VBA scripting / Excel-based tools.
  • Understanding of investment banking workflows (trading, risk, reporting, reconciliation).
  • Experience supporting data/reporting platforms or end-user tools.
