APPLICATION SUPPORT ENGINEER – AIS & APPLICATIONS MONITORING (SFIA LEVEL 3)
Job Title: Application Support Engineer – Monitoring
Role Summary
The Application Monitoring Engineer ensures application availability and performance by implementing, maintaining, and automating monitoring tools like Azure Monitor, Datadog, Dynatrace, or Splunk. They set up alerts, analyze logs, and create dashboards to proactively detect issues, troubleshoot root causes, and optimize end-user experience across enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Instrumentation & Configuration: Configuring agents and sensors to capture metrics for Java, .NET, and other application stacks.
- Alerting & Incident Management: Setting up thresholds for proactive alerting and participating in 24/7 on-call support for production issues.
- Observability & Dashboards: Creating single pane of glass dashboards and reports for application performance visualization.
- Troubleshooting & Analysis: Identifying root causes of performance bottlenecks, slow transactions, and application failures.
- Automation: Using scripting languages (Python, Shell) and DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins) to automate monitoring workflows
- Monitor alerts and dashboards (Azure Monitor, DataDog, Splunk, Dynatrace).
- Perform L1 triage, VM health checks, job status checks, escalation.
- Maintain shift handover notes and runbooks.
- Detect and record events through the Proactive Monitoring of Applications and record them on the ITSM Tool as soon as identified.
- Participate in 24×7 rotating shifts and on-call as required.
Qualifications
Additional Requirements
- Excellent English communication skills (written and oral).
- Must support major incidents as escalation point (on-call as required).
Certifications (Preferred)
- Any monitoring tool certification
- Azure Fundamentals
