Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced Lead Backup Administrator with 8+ years of expertise to manage and optimize enterprise-grade backup and recovery ecosystems. This role requires certified proficiency in backup tools, strong AWS cloud expertise (certification preferred), scripting/automation capabilities, and proven experience across at least two of the three platforms: Avamar, AWS Backup, and Rubrik.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Serve as the technical authority for all enterprise backup and recovery operations across L2/L3 support.
• Architect, design, and implement enterprise backup strategies aligned to business continuity and DR requirements.
• Lead resolution of the most complex and high-impact backup incidents and escalations.
• Drive the end-to-end design of hybrid and cloud-native backup frameworks on AWS and on-premises.
• Define and govern backup SLAs, RPOs, RTOs, retention policies, and compliance controls.
• Lead automation initiatives using Python, PowerShell, Terraform, and AWS Lambda for backup operations.
• Own technical roadmap for backup tools (Avamar, AWS Backup, Rubrik) including upgrades and lifecycle planning.
• Establish operational standards, SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge-base documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to CL10 and CL11 administrators.
• Engage with vendors for product escalations, licensing, and feature evaluation.
• Lead DR exercises, restore SLA validation, and audit readiness activities.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and cloud teams on data protection policies and regulatory controls.
• Evaluate emerging backup technologies and present recommendations to leadership.
  
  

Technical Skills & Tools

• Expert-level proficiency in at least 2 of: Avamar, AWS Backup, Rubrik (all 3 strongly preferred)
• AWS services: EC2, S3, Glacier, EBS snapshots, AWS Backup Vault, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda
• Advanced scripting and automation: Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, AWS CLI
• Enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, IBM Spectrum Protect
• Database backup expertise: Oracle RMAN, SQL Server, SAP HANA, PostgreSQL
• Security integration: encryption, immutable backups, air-gapped vaults, ransomware protection
• ITSM and monitoring: ServiceNow, Splunk, Datadog, or equivalent
  
  

Mandatory Backup Tool Requirement: Candidates must have hands-on experience in at least 2 of the following 3 backup platforms: Avamar, AWS Backup, and Rubrik.

Professional & Technical Skills:

• Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Commvault Backup Administration.
• Experience in managing backup and recovery operations to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Strong troubleshooting skills related to backup software and associated infrastructure components.
• Ability to configure, monitor, and maintain backup policies and schedules effectively.
• Familiarity with storage systems and network protocols relevant to backup solutions.
• Capability to analyze logs and system alerts to preemptively address potential issues.
  
  

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 8+ years of enterprise backup/recovery administration and architecture experience
• Certified in at least one backup tool: Dell EMC Avamar, Rubrik RCSA/RCSP, or AWS Backup specialist
• Hands-on expertise in at least 2 of the 3 backup platforms: Avamar, AWS Backup, Rubrik
• Strong AWS cloud background with practical experience in cloud-native backup design
• Advanced scripting and infrastructure-as-code capabilities
• Proven track record in leading DR planning, execution, and audit compliance
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical documentation skills
  
  

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional (strongly preferred)
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator
• Rubrik Certified Systems Administrator (RCSA) / Rubrik Certified Systems Professional (RCSP)
• Dell EMC Avamar Specialist Certification
• ITIL v4 Practitioner or Expert
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent (a plus)
• Experience with multi-cloud backup (AWS + Azure or GCP)
  
  

Note: Candidates at Career Level 9 must hold at least one active certification in a backup administration tool (Avamar, Rubrik, or AWS Backup-related). AWS certification (Associate level or above) is strongly preferred.

Additional Information:

• The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in Commvault Backup Administration.
• This position is based at our BDC7A - SEZ location.
• A 15 years full time education is required.
