Summary
We are seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer with strong experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and Linux system administration to support enterprise cloud environments. The role is part of a managed services / CloudOps setup and focuses on operational stability, automation, incident management, and platform reliability across production and non-production environments.
Roles & Responsibilities:
GCP Cloud Operations
- Provide L2/L3 operational support for GCP IaaS services, primarily:
- Compute Engine
- VPC Networking
- IAM
- Cloud Monitoring & Logging
- Manage and support Dev / Test / UAT / Prod / DR GCP environments
- Handle incident, change, problem management, and RCA in line with ITIL processes
- Perform VM lifecycle management: provisioning, decommissioning, resizing, snapshots, and backups
- Troubleshoot GCP networking issues including subnets, routes, firewall rules, VPN / Interconnect connectivity
- Ensure platform availability, performance, and SLA/SLO adherence
Infrastructure as Code – Terraform
- Provision and manage GCP infrastructure strictly using Terraform (IaC-only model)
- Execute and validate terraform plan, apply, and drift remediation
- Maintain Terraform modules, variables, and remote state files
- Support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments (e.g., Cloud Build / GitHub workflows)
- Follow best practices to prevent manual configuration drift and unauthorized changes
Linux OS Administration
- L2/L3 support for Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) deployed on GCP
- Perform Linux administration activities including:
- OS installation, configuration, and hardening
- Patching, upgrades, and reboot coordination
- User, group, sudo, and SSH access management
- Disk, filesystem, and volume management
- Troubleshoot OS-level issues related to CPU, memory, disk, processes, and networking
- Manage security baselines, vulnerability remediation, and compliance checks
Monitoring, Security & Reliability
- Configure and manage alerts using GCP Cloud Monitoring
- Proactively identify performance and capacity issues
- Support audit and compliance requirements (access reviews, logging validation)
- Participate in DR drills, failover testing, and post-incident reviews
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with application teams, architects, and security stakeholders
- Maintain and update runbooks, SOPs, operational manuals, and KT documents
- Support onboarding, KT sessions, and transition activities
Professional & Technical skills:
Mandatory Skills
- 4–6 years of experience in Cloud Operations / Managed Services
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Proven expertise in Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) in production environments
- Solid Linux administration experience (RHEL / Ubuntu)
- Good understanding of cloud networking, IAM, and security fundamentals
- Experience working with ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management)
Good to Have
- Exposure to GKE / containerized workloads
- Scripting skills (Bash / Shell, Python basic)
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging practices
- Experience in telecom or large-scale enterprise environments
