Application SME Engineer – Access Reviews & Compliance (Remote Contract)
We are seeking experienced Application SME Engineers to support enterprise application access reviews, audit readiness, and compliance initiatives across a large-scale technology environment. This role combines application expertise, security governance, data validation, and audit support in a highly regulated enterprise setting, and entails working with teams within Application Engineering, Audit & Compliance, & IT / SOX.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support quarterly user access review and compliance activities across enterprise applications
- Extract, validate, and analyze user access and entitlement data
- Identify access discrepancies, segregation of duties conflicts, and security risks
- Coordinate remediation efforts with application and security teams
- Prepare audit evidence and support internal/external audit requests
- Perform quality assurance reviews of access review deliverables
- Troubleshoot application, integration, and data-related issues
- Support API and data integration processes
- Assist with compliance tooling enhancements, testing, and process improvements
Required Experience:
- 6+ years supporting enterprise applications in an engineering, analyst, or SME capacity
- Experience with enterprise platforms such as ERP, CRM, financial systems, or other business-critical applications (Salesforce, Oracle EBS, SAP preferred)
- Strong understanding of application security, user access management, roles, permissions, and entitlements
- Knowledge of SOX, ITGC, access controls, and compliance frameworks
- Experience working with audit, risk, or governance teams
- Strong SQL (or similar querying tools such as SOQL) and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with APIs, integrations, and data validation
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with identity and access management (IAM) platforms
- Familiarity with enterprise compliance or governance tools
- Experience supporting large-scale access review programs
- Exposure to automation, integrations, CI/CD, or cloud-based platforms
