Essential Duties And Responsibilities
This position is responsible for application engineering for 2W OEM / large aftermarket customers in Mobility division including both ICE/EV models for 2W (Scooter & Motorcycles). Apart from 2W (Scooter & Motorcycles) the position will also be responsible for bicycle market. The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to OEM customers, supporting product application development, coordinating new product development, resolving field issues, and acting as the technical interface between customers, sales, and engineering teams. The role ensures correct product selection, successful product launches, and customer satisfaction through technical expertise and application support.
- Translate Customers Enquiries, Drawings, Specifications to Gates Parts and build BOMs and prepare quote proposals
- To coordinate with Manufacturing and build samples as per customer requirements.
- Responsible of handling key strategic customer calls on product or application engineering or specification issues and providing technical support i.e. proper application and selection products, investigate applications and provide best solutions with existing products
- Responsible for being the first line of contact between the sales group and colleagues in other key support groups
- To Support the implementation of the Customer Alignment Model by developing strong engineering relationships with engineers within assigned key customers.
- To Support the Product Commercialization Process on key projects.
- Assist in resolving warranty claims by investigating application , routing and any other technical requirements
- To identify VA/VE opportunities and provide best solutions with existing products.
- New product development time plan finalization with customer and supplier.
- New product development and coordination of supplier & customer PPAP
- To find new customers & getting new RFQ's in ICE/EV Platforms.
- To generate new RFQ's from bicycle manufacturers in India.
- Coordinate with global engineering / R&D teams for new product development.
- Support prototype development and sample submissions.
- Track development timelines and ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Visit customer/OEM plants for failure analysis and technical discussions.
- Analyze field failures and prepare technical reports.
- Coordinate with quality and manufacturing teams for root cause analysis.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Prepare technical reports, application reports, and validation reports.

- Has detailed knowledge of Two-Wheeler Industry; should have ideally worked with 2W OEs such as Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto Limited, Royal Enfield, TVS Motors, Suzuki, Honda Motorcycle, Yamaha, Hero Cycles, etc). Should also have fair knowledge of the advanced technologies and electrification of the two-wheeler industry.
- Automotive systems knowledge (Engine / Transmission / Belt Drive / Chassis, etc.)
- Must be able to drive projects forward. Must be able to plan and organize tasks in line with departmental objectives and deadlines.
- Problem solving tools (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)
- Knowledge of application process including early involvement with customers
- Good access to customers engineering teams (ERC/PD)
Supervisory Responsibilities
The incumbent reports to National Sales Manager- Mobility and supports him in all day to day operations to achieve the business objectives of the company.
Requirements And Preferred Skills
- B tech - Mechanical engineering with Min. 810 years experience in similar industry
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Strong experience as application engineering expert in manufacturing.
- Experience in automotive components such as Belt Drive Systems, Engine Components, Transmission Components, Bearings, Sealing Systems, Rubber / Polymer / Metal Components
