Application Development Manager:
Position Overview:
Seeking a senior level software engineering manager to join the Evernorth Core Platform production support / operations team. This is a highly collaborative team with focus in maintaining high-quality Front end and backend applications adhering to enterprise development best practices. Craftsmanship, pride in ownership and passion for excellence are core expectations.
This position requires a managerial, technical and motivated individual capable of interacting with stakeholders and engineering teams and is responsible for post-implementation support changes that go into production. In this role, an individual will proactively monitor production tickets, trend analysis, identify areas of improvement and improve operational expenses.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of analysts, developers in triaging customer reported issues and monitoring/maintaining critical web/mobile applications
- Understand the product functionality and the business requirements. Ensure the production support team is aware of the impact of changes that go into production.
- Candidates will have hands on experience in handling distributed systems
- Candidates should have experience with maintaining medium-to-large-scale web and mobile applications.
- Ability to navigate multiple technologies including AWS, Openshift, Node JS, Python, Java, Mongo DB,
- Be part of a fast-moving team, working with the internally developed tools and open-source technologies
- Triage functional and technically complex customer reported issues in a distributed environment
- Analyze advanced, distributed solutions that process, store, and quickly retrieve huge volumes of data and identify root cause
- Conduct daily reviews of production tickets, weekly review with senior management on the trend and report progress on improvement areas and action.
- Conduct and participate in postmortem calls for high severity incidents in production.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate project deadlines
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Strong Experience with Application Monitoring Tools (Splunk, Cloudwatch, Dynatrace etc)
- Experience in scripting languages such as JavaScript, Typescript, Ruby, or Python
- Web application development experience with compiled languages such as Java, Groovy, C#, or Go
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, ability to handle multiple issues at the same time
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google App Engine, or Heroku)
- Experience in analyzing RESTful, SOAP web services
- Strong experience with enterprise level N-tier web applications
- Experience in writing native SQL queries
- Relational Database - experience using Oracle, MySQL / MariaDB, Postgres, or SQLServer
- NoSql Database - DynamoDb, MongoDB, Cassandra
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with Node
- Experience in SSO (SAML, OPENID)
- Knowledge of search solutions such as Lucene, Solr, or ElasticSearch
- Experience in architecting and designing distributed systems that are highly available and security focused
Required Experience & Education:
- 10+ years of work experience in application engineering and maintenance
