Job Overview
We are seeking an Application Development Intern to design and deliver cross-platform desktop software for industrial autonomous robotic asset inspection. The role focuses on real-time telemetry, diagnostics, control interfaces, calibration workflows, and reliable data pipelines between robot hardware and host applications.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Design, develop, maintain desktop applications (Windows/Linux) for live telemetry, command/control, diagnostics, configuration.
• Implement communication stacks and data pipelines using TCP/IP, Serial/USB, WebSockets, MQTT, OPC-UA/Modbus, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Build multi-threaded, asynchronous modules for high-frequency sensor streams, time-series logging, playback, alerting.
• Create operator-friendly GUIs for dashboards: device status, sensor charts, actuator states, fault codes, calibration wizards, report export.
• Integrate with embedded/edge devices (Raspberry Pi/Jetson) for command sequencing, firmware update tools, health monitoring.
• Apply reliability and security practices: user roles/permissions, error handling, reconnection/back-off logic, input validation, audit trails.
• Work with data storage: PostgreSQL / MySQL for relational data; InfluxDB / TimescaleDB for time-series; SQLite for on-device logging.
• Produce clear technical documentation: protocol specs, release notes, user manuals, SOPs.
• Use version control and follow structured workflows for builds, testing, releases.
Qualifications
• Final-year or currently pursuing students (B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc.) in Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields.
• Prior project or internship experience in desktop application development or connected systems is desirable.
Required Skills
• Proficiency in one or more: Python (PyQt/Tkinter), C#/WPF, C++/Qt, Java (Swing/JavaFX).
• Networking and inter-process communication: TCP/IP sockets, REST/JSON, WebSockets, MQTT, OPC-UA/Modbus, Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Experience with multi-threading, asynchronous I/O, real-time data handling.
• UI/UX for engineering tools, diagnostics, data visualization.
• Collaboration with hardware teams, protocol interpretation, disciplined documentation.
Professional Attributes
• Detail-oriented, systematic debugging, strong communication, ownership mindset.
Perks
• Mentorship from senior robotics and software engineers.
• Exposure to industrial-grade products and deployment workflows.
• Access to R&D lab environments and hands-on testing.
• Internship completion certificate and detailed project letter.
• High-performing interns considered for Pre-Placement Offer (PPO).
