As an Application Architect at Xceedance, you will shape the design and evolution of enterprise-grade applications that power critical insurance workflows for clients worldwide.

Role Summary

The Application Architect is responsible for defining and governing the architecture of complex business applications and platforms. You will work closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to design scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that align with Xceedance's technology strategy and the needs of global insurance clients.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Solution Design

- Define end-to-end application architectures (front-end, back-end, integration, data, security) for new and existing products and client solutions.

- Translate business and functional requirements into technical architectures, design artifacts, and implementation roadmaps.

- Select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven, domain-driven design) aligned with enterprise standards.

- Create and maintain architectural blueprints, sequence diagrams, data flows, and integration patterns.

Technical Leadership & Governance

- Provide hands-on architectural guidance to engineering teams throughout the SDLC.

- Establish and enforce best practices for coding, design, performance, security, and maintainability.

- Conduct architecture and design reviews, and participate in code reviews for critical components.

- Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with overall technology ecosystem.

Delivery & Collaboration

- Partner with product management, business analysts, and domain experts to understand insurance-specific requirements (e.g., policy admin, underwriting, pricing, claims, bordereaux, reinsurance).

- Work with project managers and scrum masters to estimate effort, mitigate technical risks, and ensure timely, quality delivery.

- Support pre-sales, RFP responses, and client workshops by shaping solution proposals and technical narratives.

Quality, Security & Performance

- Ensure application architectures meet non-functional requirements: scalability, availability, resiliency, performance, and security.

- Advocate secure-by-design principles and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., OWASP, data privacy, regulatory requirements in target markets).

- Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies, tools, and practices relevant to the insurance and insurtech landscape.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

- Produce clear architectural documentation, guidelines, and reference implementations.

- Mentor developers and junior architects; lead internal sessions on architecture patterns and technology best practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

- Typically 15+ years of experience in software/application development, including at least 5+ years in an architect or lead engineer role.

- Proven experience designing and delivering complex, distributed enterprise applications, preferably in financial services or insurance.

Technical Skills

- Strong proficiency in below mentioned backend stack:

- .NET / .NET Core, C#

- Experience with modern front-end technologies:

- Angular / React / Vue (Angular and/or React preferred)

- Solid understanding of:

- Microservices and APIs (REST, GraphQL; API gateways)

- Integration patterns (messaging, ESB, event-driven, queues such as Kafka/RabbitMQ)

- Relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB)

- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), including containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).

- Strong grounding in application security, identity and access management (OAuth2, JWT, SSO), and data protection.

Preferred / Domain-Specific Experience

- Experience in P&C insurance, reinsurance, specialty lines, or related domains.

- Exposure to policy administration systems, rating engines, underwriting workbenches, claims systems, or bordereaux processing. Cat Technology and Tools expertise is a plus.

- Understanding of Cat modelling industry standards (OED/ORD) is an advantage

- Experience modernizing legacy applications and platforms (re-platforming, re-architecting, API enablement).
