Job Description:
The Application Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and evolving
scalable, secure, and high‑quality web applications that meet business outcomes. This role provides
technical leadership at the application level, translating business requirements into well‑structured application architectures using
modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular) and
backend services built on .NET Core APIs, while ensuring seamless
application and system integrations.
The Application Architect works closely with Product Owners, Engineering teams, Integration teams, and Enterprise Architect to ensure application designs are aligned to organizational standards, delivery best practices, and long‑term platform strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead the design, analysis, and realization of high-quality solutions for systems and applications. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, guiding them in implementing best practices and ensuring code quality.
- Design and Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed technical designs for software applications, adhering to modern architecture principles, patterns, and best practices. Document all architecture design and analysis work.
- Review and Oversight: Oversee application design reviews to ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements, including cost optimization, performance, reliability, scalability, security, and compliance.
- Guidance and Standards: Provide guidance to the IT team on technical designs, development practices, CI/CD pipelines, testing, validation, monitoring, security, and system integrations, ensuring adherence to Medline standards.
- Hands-On Engagement: Engage directly with development teams to overcome technical roadblocks, validate architectural decisions, and lead proof-of-concept initiatives to accelerate delivery.
- Collaboration: Work closely with management, IT architects, and other stakeholders to define and execute the IT roadmap in alignment with operational and strategic business objectives.
- Industry Trends: Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in technology, evaluating and recommending new technologies and tools to enhance application development.
Work Experience & Required Skills:
- 15+ years of overall IT experience including 3+ years of experience working as an Application Architect designing web application architectures.
- Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs using .Net Core and integrating them into front-end applications.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Bitbucket, GitLab), build tools and modern development workflows.
- Experience designing applications and solutions for resilience and recoverability
- Extensive knowledge and expertise in Javascript, web components, HTML5, CSS3, and modern frameworks (React and/or Angular)
- Skilled in designing application landscapes for cloud environments (preferably Azure)
- Solid understanding of architectural patterns, best practices, and design principles for building scalable and maintainable web applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly analyze and understand complex systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within project deadlines.
- Experience mentoring/coaching development teams on standards, guidelines, and best practices.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (power apps, power automate, power pages, etc.) or any other Low Code platform
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other related streams
