About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Application Architect to own the end-to-end application architecture of the Helfie platform — spanning our native mobile apps (iOS Swift, Android Kotlin), the Helfie Hub backend, our Azure-hosted services layer, and the integration fabric that connects them to six production ML inference endpoints and our generative AI assistant architecture.

You will translate Helfie's enterprise architecture into concrete, buildable application designs and govern them through our gate-based delivery pipeline from Architecture to Production.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and direction across the full application development lifecycle.
• Design end-to-end application architecture that balances performance, scalability, availability, and technical debt.
• Lead design reviews, walkthroughs, and solution validation activities.
• Identify and resolve issues impacting architecture, application integrity, and platform simplicity.
• Support engineering teams with problem diagnosis and root cause analysis.
• Contribute to design, technical analysis, and software delivery where required.
• Drive service optimisation, modelling, and performance outcomes.
• Lead and contribute to agile ceremonies and cross-team forums.
• Proven ability to set technical direction and bring engineering, product, and compliance stakeholders along with clear, well-argued design artefacts.
• Experience running architecture governance — gate reviews, ADRs, and trade-off analysis — without slowing delivery.
• Strong mentoring instincts; you raise the bar of teams you work with.

Skills & experience:

• 8+ years in software engineering, with at least 4 years in a formal Architect role on production systems.
• Proven experience in data engineering and data analytics, or closely related technical disciplines.
• Deep expertise in application architecture, including large-scale analytics systems, distributed data processing, and real-time architectures.
• Hands-on experience with domain modelling and Domain-Driven Design, maintaining clean separation between domain, application, and infrastructure layers.
• Demonstrated ability to design AI and advanced analytics workloads, with strong familiarity with modern AI patterns and AI-driven applications.
• Track record partnering with Solutions Architects on the application–platform boundary: workload identity, secrets management, event and messaging contracts, and service design patterns.
