Job Description

The Application & System Engineer will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and monitoring SaaS applications and underlying infrastructure across Linux and Windows environments. This role involves managing application servers such as Apache Tomcat, troubleshooting system and network issues, and ensuring high availability and performance. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to support deployments, resolve incidents, and maintain system reliability. This role requires the engineer to work on night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, maintain, and support SaaS applications in a data centre environment.
  • Perform daily log analysis and periodic security audits.
  • Provide timely support for customer-reported and internal IT issues.
  • Analyse system and application logs to identify and troubleshoot issues before escalating to the R& D team.
  • Assist in application installation, configuration, and customisation.
  • Manage hosted applications and collaboration tools.
  • Provide technical support for Linux, Windows, and network-related issues.
  • Handle backup and recovery operations.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for processes, policies, and support activities.
  • Support application validation and quality assurance testing.
  • Assist QA teams in testing new releases and enhancements.
  • Participate in new product release activities, including customer flow testing.
  • Work in on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to ensure high-quality service.

Requirements

  • B. E / B. Tech / MCA / B. Sc (Computers) or any related technical discipline.
  • Equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Certification in System or Network Administration (e. g., Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)) is an added advantage.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Technical Skills

  • Basic to intermediate experience in Linux and Windows system administration.
  • Hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and managing Apache and Tomcat servers.
  • Exposure to Linux shell scripting and task automation.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios, MRTG, iDRAC, or IPMI.
  • Experience working with virtual environments (VMware).
  • Basic understanding of Cisco firewall configuration and management.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and practices.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, or other RDBMS (ability to execute DB scripts).
  • Exposure to Docker, Jenkins, and Ansible for deployment and automation.
  • Willingness to work in EST and PST timings (Night shifts).
  • Strong communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
