API Tester

•  Job Description
• We are looking for a skilled API Test Engineer with hands-on experience in testing TMF APIs, validating application behavior via Dynatrace logs, and implementing functional automation testing using Apache JMeter. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of RESTful APIs, experience with service validation, and the ability to design and execute automated test scripts efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and execute API test cases for TMF-compliant REST APIs.
• Validate API responses, headers, and payloads using tools like Postman, SOAP UI, REST Assured, or JMeter.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Apache JMeter for performance and functional validation.
• Parse and validate logs to verify system behavior, trace IDs, and transaction consistency.
• Implement logic to correlate transaction IDs between test execution and backend logs.
• Strong analytical skills to analyse the issue/defect with detailed information to dev team.
• Collaborate with development teams to identify API defects, root causes, and performance bottlenecks.
• Integrate API automation tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
• Generate JMeter HTML reports and enhance reporting with logging tool integration or post-processing.
• Maintain test data, environments, and versioned test repositories in Git or similar tools.
• Prepare test documentation, including test plans, test scenarios, and bug reports

Must-Have Skills:

• 1. Strong experience in REST API testing (especially TMF Open APIs) using SOAP UI / Postman / Jmeter.
• Proficiency in JMeter for functional test automation.
• Experience with logging tool for log monitoring, trace analysis, and log validation.
• Ability to extract and verify trace IDs, transaction logs, and custom log messages.
• Good knowledge of JSON structure and parsing logic.
• Understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, headers, and payload structures.
• Basic scripting knowledge (Groovy/Beanshell/JavaScript in JMeter or Python).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Git.

 Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with XSLT to transform test result files or automate log query generation.
• Knowledge of Postman / Swagger / REST Assured.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Telecom domain knowledge, TMF frameworks.
• AI skills to minimise manual work / Improve process.
• High level knowledge on API gateway & Micro Services architecture.
