API Test automation engineer

Years of experience- Around 3 Years in API and Web test automation

Role Objective:

Drive a high level of automated test coverage across Web, API, and integration layers, supporting continuous quality with limited manual intervention.

Core Responsibilities:

Design automation strategies aligned with the test pyramid, with stronger emphasis on APIs than UI.

Build and maintain broad regression coverage with a focus on stability and long-term reliability.

Develop data-driven, contract, and mutation-based tests where applicable.

Automate edge cases, negative paths, and failure scenarios to improve system confidence.

Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines with meaningful quality gates.

Continuously improve frameworks to reduce flakiness and maintenance overhead.

Mandatory Skills:

API testing experience using tools such as Rest Assured, Karate, or Pact

Web automation using Playwright, Cypress, or similar frameworks

Proficiency in Java or Python

Strong understanding of scalable and maintainable test framework design

Experience integrating tests into CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)

Familiarity with Git, Docker, and parallel test execution

Advanced Automation Capabilities:

Experience with contract, schema, and compatibility testing

Automated test data management and environment coordination

Scaled test execution across parallel or distributed setups

Using logs, metrics, or traces to improve test effectiveness

Largely unattended regression and release validation runs
