Founded in 2010, YODA (Youth Organization in Defence of Animals) is a registered charity based in Mumbai that focuses on creating a cruelty-free environment for animals. The organization offers prompt medical care for injured and abandoned animals, supports behavioral and physical rehabilitation, and provides shelter for homeless or senior animals until adoption or release. YODA actively works to control stray animal populations through vaccination and sterilization programs to minimize the spread of diseases like rabies. In addition, it fosters awareness and education to encourage better co-existence between humans and animals.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site position based in Goa at the Animal Welfare Hospital under YODA. The Animal Caretaker will be responsible for providing daily care, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the well-being of animals. Responsibilities include assisting veterinary staff during treatments, administering medications, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and supporting the rehabilitation of animals for adoption. The role also involves organizing and overseeing vaccination, sterilization, and behavioral care efforts as part of YODA's programs.

  • Good to have - Experience with animal care, handling, and providing basic first aid for animals
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medical procedures and rehabilitation techniques
  • Ability to manage shelter maintenance and uphold sanitary and safety standards
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with teams and veterinary professionals
  • Genuine compassion for animals and a commitment to animal welfare
  • Familiarity with vaccination and sterilization protocols for dogs and cats is a plus
  • Prior experience working in an animal rescue, veterinary, or shelter setting is advantageous
