Job Description

About The Role

Experienced Android Middleware Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and deliver complex middleware solutions for Android/Linux-based Automotive Infotainment and Cockpit systems.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in C++, Android AOSP, Middleware, HAL/VHAL, IPC, and embedded automotive systems, with experience spanning Android Framework, AOSP, HAL, and middleware layers. The role requires strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to work across multiple automotive domains.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and implement complex middleware solutions for automotive infotainment and cockpit systems.
  • Develop C++-based middleware components for Android/Linux-based IVI platforms.
  • Work across Android Framework, AOSP, HAL, and middleware layers.

Middleware Components

  • Multimedia, Bluetooth, Projection, Tuner, Audio, HMI, System Infrastructure, Sensors, Diagnostics, and Vehicle SOTA.
  • Implement and customize HAL/VHAL interfaces and Android HIDL-based interfaces.
  • Understand and work with Android Framework module architecture and Android boot sequence.
  • Develop and integrate Inter-ECU and Intra-ECU IPC communication mechanisms.
  • Work with IPCL and messaging frameworks for automotive communication.
  • Support system startup/shutdown, fast boot, audio, multimedia, HMI, sensor integration, diagnostics, and other platform-level features.
  • Perform cross-compilation using appropriate Android, Linux, and QNX toolchains.
  • Develop and maintain build configurations using CMake, Gradle, and Soong.
  • Apply Object-Oriented Programming concepts and C++ design patterns to develop scalable and maintainable middleware.
  • Follow coding standards and guidelines such as MISRA C/C++ where applicable.
  • Debug and troubleshoot middleware, framework, HAL, and system-level issues.
  • Use ADB and other Android/Linux/QNX debugging tools for issue analysis and resolution.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and support customer deliveries and production issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, integration activities, and technical discussions.
  • Collaborate with BSP, HMI, Framework, HAL, System, Vehicle, and other cross-functional teams.

Required Technical Skills

  • Android / Automotive
  • Strong experience with Android AOSP / Android-based IVI or Cockpit systems.
  • Good understanding of Android Framework architecture.
  • Understanding of Android Boot Sequence.
  • Experience with HAL/VHAL implementation and customization.
  • Experience with Android HIDL interfaces.

Required Experience

  • 4 - 8 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing middleware solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience in C++ and automotive middleware development.
  • Experience working with Android AOSP/Linux-based IVI or Cockpit systems.
  • Experience across Framework/AOSP/HAL/Middleware layers is highly preferred.

Education : B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech
