Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Android HMI Architect to join our team working on next generation in vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, designing and leading development of advanced Android-based infotainment systems for the automotive industry. Specializing in AOSP customization, multi-layer HMI architecture, and cross-functional team leadership. Adept at transforming complex requirements into robust, user-centric in-vehicle UX solutions meeting global standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including platform, QA, design and customer.
  • Architected end-to-end HMI frameworks on Android Automotive/AOSP for next-generation IVI platforms, scaling solutions across multiple OEMs.
  • Led the design, integration, and optimization of multi-layer HMI features, driving system performance and superior user experiences.
  • Directed cross-functional teams in requirements analysis, UX prototyping, and agile development cycles, ensuring alignment with product strategy and global automotive standards.
  • Engineered middleware interfaces between Android apps and vehicle hardware abstraction (VHAL, CAN/LIN), achieving high reliability and security.
  • Mentored junior engineers, established code review practices, and fostered knowledge sharing to elevate team capabilities.
  • Collaborated with design, testing, and customer teams to deliver validated, production-grade infotainment features on schedule.
  • Desing and implement HMI layers and features on Android Automotive/AOSP.
  • Develop and customize Android applications, services and components.
  • Work with the design team to provide suggestions or changes.
  • Interface with middle ware and HAL components for vehicle data.
  • Optimize performance, memory usage and boot time for HMI applications.
  • Debug and resolve issues related to the implemented and yet to implement HMI apps.

Required skills:

  • Strong development experience in Android Framework, AOSP and Android SDK.
  • Proficient in Java and Kotlin.
  • Experience with HMI Architecture & System Design in automotive IVI projects.
  • Knowledge on Android application lifecycle, services, broadcast and content providers.
  • Experience with Git and Android Soong & Gradle build system.
  • Understanding of Vehicle HAL (VHAL) in Android Automotive.
  • Embedded Systems Integration (CAN/LIN)
  • Performance Optimization & System Profiling, logcat, ADB and system debugging tools.
  • Android Automotive (AOSP) Customization
  • Technical Leadership & Team Mentorship
  • UX/UI Strategy for Automotive Applications
  • Stakeholder Management & Cross-functional Collaboration

Preferred Skills (Nice to have):

  • Defined HMI architectural blueprints and best practices for scalable, maintainable system development.
  • Evaluated emerging technologies and recommended adoption paths to sustain innovation in infotainment systems.
  • Led root-cause analysis of complex system performance or reliability issues, proposing long-term solutions.
  • Proficiency in automotive camera, Keyboard integration.
  • Understanding of Automotive A-SPICE standards, ISO 26262, ASIL, Automotive ECUs, SDV, Experienced in Certification and Audits.
  • Worked and successfully delivered full scaled HMI projects to OEM based on AOSP.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced evolving environment.

Education:

Bachelor's / master's degree in computer science, electronics or related engineering
