Role Overview We are looking for a driven Android Developer to join our engineering team and help build scalable, high-impact mobile products. You'll own features end-to-end on our native Android app — used daily by parents and educators across 50+ countries — while collaborating closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, test, and ship features in our native Android application
- Develop and maintain modules using Java
- Work with real-time data systems like Firebase Realtime Database
- Integrate REST APIs and third-party SDKs including payment gateways
- Optimize for performance, memory, and battery across a wide range of devices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver product features
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
- Participate in code reviews and continuously improve engineering practices
- Leverage AI tools like Claude and GitHub Copilot to enhance productivity
Required Skills
- 2-5 years of hands-on experience in Android development
- Strong proficiency in Java
- Strong grasp of Object-Oriented Programming principles
- Solid understanding of the Android SDK, app lifecycle, and threading
- Experience with Firebase (Realtime Database, Auth, Cloud Messaging) or similar real-time systems
- Familiarity with REST APIs and modern mobile architecture
- Basic to intermediate understanding of databases (SQL or NoSQL)
- Understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven systems
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git)
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
Good to Have
- Experience working with AI tools like Claude or GitHub Copilot
- Experience integrating third-party payment gateway SDKs
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure)
- Understanding of performance optimization and scalability
- Prior experience in a startup environment
