Android Developer

1. Develop and maintain an full stack application tailored to provide customer experiences across TV and Big screens devices based on Native Android or Web tech stack

2. Design and develop tools to augment the developer experience, including but not limited to: unit or integration Testing solutions, Command-line interfaces, Git helpers and integrations with Gitlab or Gitfarm CI/CD pipelines

3 Operational metrics and dashboards

4 Provide hands-on support and training to other developers who are less acquainted with Native Android, Web development, React Native, TypeScript, and GraphQL.

5 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software.

3+ years of professional software development experience using one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, or TypeScript, including strong object-oriented design fundamentals.

2+ years of non-internship experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

2+ years of hands-on experience building native Android applications and developing front-end UI using modern web technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React or similar).

Experience working in a full-stack architecture, including integration with backend services (REST/GraphQL).

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• 2+ years of experience building Android or Android TV apps, including Leanback and large-screen UI patterns.
• Experience integrating with backend services (REST/GraphQL) and architectures such as Backend-for-Frontend (BFF).
• Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers using AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, etc.)
• Experience with video playback stacks (ExoPlayer, DRM, streaming), performance optimization (startup time, memory, rendering, ANRs) and CI/CD pipelines for mobile + backend.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

On a high level, in 2025, new CW will be working on (a) launching FTV VegaOS support (targeted Q3 25) and driving release rigor across the Fire TV pipeline (b) modularizing Amazon Music's integration via Project Roadrunner to accelerate OEM/ODM onboarding and partner expansion. (c) investing in platform hygiene - telemetry implementation, improving latency measurement, , operational metrics, logging, and stability (d) building video readiness for Amazon Music Live and VOD (e) enhanced Alexa+ integration will deepen voice-first engagement in the living room (f) Few other priorities e.g. Dynamic Messaging, Auto play, feature parity across Big screen devices.
