Analytics Engineer (Payments / Orchestration)

You will own the company's source of truth for payments data.

This role is responsible for transforming raw transaction events into trusted metrics, actionable insights, and merchant-facing reporting that directly improve authorization rates and routing performance.

This is not a dashboard-building role.

You will define how the business measures performance, identifies problems, and makes decisions.

We are a high-velocity team. You are expected to leverage AI tools to accelerate development, analysis, and problem-solving.

How You Will Make an Impact:

• Create a single source of truth for payments performance

  • Define and standardize metrics across transactions, routing, declines, and retries

  • Eliminate inconsistencies and ensure the organization operates on aligned KPIs

• Build the foundation for all analytics and reporting

  • Develop scalable, well-structured data models that power internal and external reporting

  • Enable faster, more reliable access to critical business data

• Increase trust in data across the organization

  • Implement testing, monitoring, and alerting to ensure data accuracy and reliability

  • Reduce time spent questioning data and increase time spent acting on it

• Drive measurable improvements in authorization rates

  • Identify root causes of declines and quantify their business impact

  • Influence routing and retry strategies with data-backed recommendations

• Deliver insights that improve merchant performance

  • Provide clear, actionable reporting that helps merchants understand and optimize their payment outcomes

• Raise the bar on team velocity and execution

  • Apply AI tools to accelerate analysis, modeling, and problem-solving

  • Set a standard for speed and quality in how data work gets done

Skills you will have fine-tuned:

• Turning ambiguous problems into measurable metrics

  • Developing clear definitions for complex, high-stakes KPIs

  • Navigating tradeoffs and edge cases in metric design

• Designing scalable data models

  • Structuring event-level data into reusable, intuitive datasets

  • Building semantic layers that support both technical and non-technical users

• Building resilient data systems

  • Implementing data quality frameworks that prevent issues before they surface

  • Developing strong instincts for detecting anomalies and inconsistencies

• Deep payments analytics expertise

  • Understanding how issuer behavior, routing logic, and retries impact authorization outcomes

  • Analyzing high-volume transaction data to uncover meaningful patterns

• Communicating insights that drive decisions

  • Translating complex data into clear narratives for stakeholders

  • Framing recommendations in terms of business impact

• AI-native ways of working

  • Integrating tools like OpenAI Codex, Cursor, and Claude into daily workflows

  • Continuously refining how to use AI to increase speed, depth, and quality of work
