Role Title: Analyst/Senior Analyst, Trade Operations

Role location: Singapore Based

How will I help

As the Analyst/Senior Analyst, Trade Operations, you will be responsible for Trade Finance document credit checking/processing. This role will handle commodity trade middle office function as well.

You will also:

Operations Functions

  • Check and process documents under Documentary Credit for both Import and Export/Trade Loans (Receivables Financing/Risk Participations/etc).
  • Advise documents checking status to the Trade Service Team, whether compliance or discrepant.
  • Co-ordinate with Service/Middle Office Team on the documents and process flow.
  • Ensure adherence to Department SOP, Bank Policies and Guidelines.
  • Ensure all transactions and tasks assigned are carried out in accordance with the operating and compliance procedures.
  • Ensure smooth processing of day-to-day transactions within stipulated Service Level Agreement.
  • Perform trade sanctions screening, identify red flags and escalate as per Bank Procedures.
  • Conduct transaction monitoring, follow-up on end-to-end process handling for structured deals and provide regular status updates to STMO (Structured Trade Middle Office).
  • Address any swift query from Bank pertaining to the documents checked and provide appropriate respond for Processor to reply to the Bank.
  • Manage daily workflow to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Identify areas for process improvement.
  • Achieve to meet Goals Setting (KPI).
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and assignments.
  • Participate in assigned UAT and LV for system enhancement and implementation where applicable.

Middle Office Functions

  • Review the Customer Facility Structure against the Commodity applications for compliance with approved terms and conditions and manage deviation process handling.
  • Ensure proper credit approval has been obtained for exception and ad hoc excess prior to releasing transaction for processing.
  • Follow up with monitoring requirements to ensure successful end-to-end transaction completion
  • Be customer-centric and manage effectively from clients and stakeholders on trade technical query and/or documentary checking status; Provide solutions and/or recommendations.
  • Liaise with clients on unclear instructions and obtain proper documentation before handling transaction to Processor.
  • Report of exceptions, irregularities and suspicious transactions
  • Liaise closely with Operation team to facilitate turning around of the transactions in an efficient and effective manner
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, risk, compliance and product specialist to support deal execution.
  • Deliver efficient and good quality products and services to internal and external customers in accordance with the service standards
  • Ensure compliance of system and control procedures in line with internal procedures, polices and guidelines

What do I need

  • Degree holder with at least 3-5 year experience with Trade Finance products including Letter of Credit, Documentary Collections, Standby Letter of Credit (Commodity trade finance experience would be beneficiary.)
  • Good knowledge on ICC UCP, ISBP, URC, URR, ISP and URDG rules
  • Resourceful, independent and reliable
  • Familiar with knowledge of Trade Finance risk and fraud
  • Meticulous and organized
  • Confidently and effectively deal with business partners and other stakeholders
