The mission of the Global Strategy, Operations, & Performance (GSOP) Team within Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) is to be essential to merchants and partners globally by delivering an easy, frictionless, value-added experience that enables them to meet their goals and support merchants globally and transform what it means to be an AMEX Merchant. GSOP consists of a diverse set of teams that support the GMNS business.
The GMNS Analytics team within GSOP is responsible for partnering with global markets to drive profitable growth, accelerating acceptance and amplifying the value of Amex acceptance to Merchants, bank partners and Card Members at scale. We offer powerful data and actionable insights to attract new businesses to engage with Amex, help existing businesses improve performance and capitalize on new opportunities.
Description:
The GMNS Analytics team is seeking an Analyst to support the Merchant Portfolio Reporting & Insights function. This role will work closely with stakeholders across GMS to develop, enhance and maintain global merchant portfolio reporting with a focus on global datasets and dashboards. The Analyst will play a key role in producing accurate, timely, and actionable reporting and insights that enable business growth and innovation across our global merchant ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Build, enhance, and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions that provide visibility into merchant portfolio performance.
- Support automation efforts for data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes to improve speed to insight and reduce manual intervention. Identify opportunities to move datasets into MODL.
- Analyze merchant and coverage performance trends to uncover opportunities and risks, translating data into meaningful business insights and recommendations.
- Partner with teams across GMS, Data Engineering, and other analytics functions to align on data definitions, methodologies, and reporting standards.
- Contribute to initiatives that leverage emerging tools and technologies including GenAI and machine learning to enhance analytics scalability and depth of insights.
- Support new and evolving reporting needs across the merchant business, providing timely analytics to inform decisions on strategic priorities and business performance.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in analytical domain.
- Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail ability to learn quickly and drive results.
- Ability to drive insights from data, manage multiple projects and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills with ability to build relationships and challenge the status quo.
- Excellent business writing and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and influence at all levels.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Google Big Query, SQL, R, Python, Lumi, PySpark and Tableau.
- Experience in the merchant business preferred.
- Experience in Machine Learning/ Cloud / Gen AI is a plus.
Academic Background:
- Bachelors in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/ Engineering/Data Science with relevant experience.
- Post Graduation in Statistics/Mathematics/ Economics/Engineering/Management is a plus.
