We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Analyst - Credit Analysis Unit

Purpose of the role

  • Credit & Capital Management (CCM) team under CIB are implementing a new, modern, and consistent E2E operating model, of which a key component is the introduction of a first line credit management office, BCO (Business Credit Office). Global Trade Solutions (GTS) comprises over 4,500 people across more than 60 countries, helping suppliers and buyers with their export and import finance needs. Trade is where HSBC began in 1865, when we financed commerce between Europe, North America and Asia. Our Global Trade Solutions (GTS) division supports internationally oriented companies in their global growth strategy. Only recently, being the largest trade finance bank globally, HSBC was again recognized as the best global trade finance bank.
  • We are currently seeking a motivated individual to join the BCO COE team in the capacity of Associate/Senior Associate as part of the GTS COE. The GTS COE for working capital advisory support was set up in 2024, with the aim of supporting local/regional structurers and BDMs on their detailed working capital analysis sessions with clients, to demonstrate the Group's structuring expertise and reinforce our role as strategic partners. This individual will enable GTS to target increased client coverage and potentially more working capital deal flow, in line with the priorities of the Group. The hire will be supporting BDMs/ structurers with working capital advisory decks / structuring memos, to enable detailed client conversations and transactions. The role is based out of BLR.

In This Role, You Will

  • Financial Analysis: Extract, organize, and analyze client and peer financial data using leading financial databases (e.g., S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, FactSet). Cross-verify key metrics with primary sources such as annual reports, investor presentations, proxy statements, and other regulatory disclosures.
  • Working Capital & Ratio Analysis: Conduct comprehensive working capital assessments, liquidity evaluations, and ratio analyses. Perform sector benchmarking to identify performance trends and competitive positioning.
  • Financial Normalization: Apply standardized internal methodologies to adjust and normalize financial data, ensuring consistency and comparability across peer sets.
  • Insight & Strategy Development: Deliver high-quality analysis and actionable recommendations to address business challenges and support client strategy.
  • Visualization & Reporting: Prepare visually engaging charts and dashboards summarizing key financial trends and performance highlights for senior stakeholders.
  • Presentation Support: Develop and structure pitch decks and presentation materials for onshore Business Development Managers (BDMs) for client meetings and strategic discussions. Depending on the requirement, the role holder will also be attending client meetings and present the analysis.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with onshore and cross-functional teams to gather data inputs, ensure timely delivery of outputs, and address queries or feedback on analytical deliverables.
  • Quality & Timeliness: Ensure deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and meet defined quality standards.
  • Proactively identify process improvements and lead self-initiated analytical or efficiency projects.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis: Provide data-driven insights for special requests, contributing to improved client outcomes and business decisions.

To Be Successful You Will

  • C.A. / CFA / MBA Finance, Economics or equivalent is essential, and any professional qualification is desirable.
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in Credit Analysis including Working Capital Analysis & Trade Finance.
  • Highly proficient at Excel and Word. Expertise in financial databases such S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, FactSet preferred.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English, proficient in credit / research writing in English, hard-working, organized, diligent, and above all a good team player
  • Effective coordination and communication skills
  • Strong presentation and visualization skills
  • Understand financial principles and concepts, including budgeting, financial forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Understanding of risk management principles and practices. This includes the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact the business.
  • Adhering strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices; reporting weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, including recruitment, performance management, and employee development.
