At Altair, we are advancing frontier technologies across advanced sensing, autonomy, precision controls, and next-generation airborne systems. Our engineering teams support high-performance solutions for Unmanned helicopters, UAV/UDA platforms, and other aerospace and defence systems.
Role Summary
We are seeking an Expert Analog Hardware Engineer with deep experience in designing, simulating, and validating high-performance analog and mixed-signal electronic systems. The candidate will lead product-level hardware architecture, own critical analog blocks, and guide junior engineers while working closely with cross-functional teams in digital, firmware, RF, and mechanical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Analog & Mixed-Signal Circuit Design
- Design and optimize analog building blocks such as:
- precision amplifiers (op-amps, instrumentation, transimpedance, low-noise)
- ADC/DAC front-ends and signal-conditioning circuits
- filters (active/passive, low-noise, anti-aliasing, reconstruction)
- power stages (DC-DC, linear regulators, low-noise supplies)
- sensor interfaces (bridge, piezo, current/voltage sensing)
- Develop architectures for low-noise, low-distortion, and high-accuracy circuits.
Simulation & Analysis
- Perform SPICE simulations (AC, transient, noise, Monte-Carlo, corner analysis).
- Conduct signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and noise analysis.
- Model real-world component behavior (parasitics, temperature effects, tolerances).
Hardware Development
- Create complete schematics, BOMs, and documentation.
- Work with PCB layout engineers; provide guidelines for:
- grounding schemes
- high-speed/low-noise routing
- impedance control
- thermal design
- isolation and safety compliance
- Perform worst-case analysis and derating for reliability.
Prototyping & Validation
- Bring-up and debug boards using:
- oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, logic analyzers
- precision DMMs, SMUs, network analyzers
- Validate performance vs. design specifications.
- Conduct design verification testing (DVT) and root-cause analysis of issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with embedded firmware and digital hardware teams.
- Support manufacturing and production test development.
- Review component choices for supply chain resiliency and cost optimization.
Compliance & Certification
- Ensure designs comply with EMI/EMC, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards:
- IEC/UL standards
- CISPR/EN noise emission standards
- ESD/Surge/ESD immunity
- Support certification processes with test labs.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- 5+ years proven experience in analog/mixed-signal hardware design.
- Strong expertise in:
- analog circuit theory
- low-noise design
- precision measurement systems
- power electronics fundamentals
- Deep understanding of real-world effects: EMI/EMC, grounding, parasitics, layout impacts.
- Hands-on experience with lab test equipment.
- Proficiency in schematic & simulation tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, LTspice, PSpice).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-voltage/high-power analog systems.
- Experience with RF front-ends or high-speed ADCs/DACs.
- Experience designing for harsh or industrial environments and military environments.
- Familiarity with Python/Matlab for test automation.
