Role: Consultant Anaesthesiologist (On-site) — Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead preoperative assessment and risk stratification for elective and emergency surgical patients, including optimisation of comorbidities and perioperative planning.
- Deliver safe, evidencebased anaesthesia care across general, regional and neuraxial techniques for adult and paediatric patients as needed.
- Manage airway and perioperative critical events, including advanced airway interventions and intraoperative crisis management using established protocols.
- Provide postoperative analgesia and acute pain management using multimodal strategies and regional techniques; supervise PACU care and handover to ward/ICU teams.
- Collaborate with surgical, critical care and nursing teams to develop anaesthesia plans, participate in perioperative rounds and escalate care when required.
- Ensure compliance with OT safety standards, maintain accurate clinical documentation, mentor junior doctors and contribute to clinical audits and quality improvement.
Skills & Qualifications
MustHave
- MBBS with MD / DNB / DA in Anaesthesiology (or equivalent recognised qualification)
- Registered with the appropriate Indian medical regulatory authority (State Medical Council / National Medical Commission)
- Proven competency in general anaesthesia, spinal anaesthesia and regional nerve blocks
- Experience in airway management and perioperative ventilator management
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification
- Demonstrable experience working in a multispecialty operating theatre environment with EMR/clinical documentation
Preferred
- Experience in critical care/ICU management or combined anaesthesiaICU roles
- Fellowship or additional training in pain management or regional anaesthesia
- Prior leadership/teaching experience and involvement in clinical governance or audits
