Roles and Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Team Management:
- Provide leadership and supervision to the operations team, ensuring high levels of performance and service to customers while maximizing output and minimizing costs.
- Organize and motivate staff within the department to meet or exceed productivity goals.
- Oversee and monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with company standards and best practices.
- Delegate activities to operations staff and workmen while maintaining operational efficiency.
Production Planning & Scheduling:
- Responsible for the planning and scheduling of production resources to meet business requirements in the most cost-effective manner.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely and effective resource allocation for operations.
Maintenance Management:
- Ensure that Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs are established and followed for all machinery.
- Monitor and maintain machine efficiency, ensuring safety and operational uptime.
- Ensure availability and timely procurement of consumables and spare parts required for operations.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement:
- Oversee the implementation of quality policies and procedures on the shop floor.
- Ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken when needed to maintain and improve quality standards.
- Assist the Quality Manager in the creation and upkeep of quality manuals, documentation, and processes.
- Lead and contribute to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE):
- Ensure that Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards are met and enforced across all shop floor activities.
- Ensure all employees and visitors wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report all safety incidents and accidents to relevant staff and authorities, following proper procedures.
- Oversee sustainability initiatives in line with company policies and guidelines.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including factory-related filings with agencies like KSPCB, Labour Department, CEIG, DOT, AAI, etc.
- Maintain all necessary records and documentation required for regulatory reporting.
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
- Prepare and manage the budget for operations, forecasting operational expenses and capital expenditures (CAPEX).
- Ensure that the department operates within budgetary constraints and recommend improvements to reduce costs or optimize spending.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Monitor and measure key performance indicators for operations, including production efficiency, quality, machine downtime, and safety.
- Lead operational diagnostic audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead by example and provide guidance to the team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular team meetings to address concerns, share best practices, and provide performance feedback.
- Ensure that staff are trained and equipped with the skills required to meet operational and customer expectations.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Experience in the metals or aerospace industry with knowledge of production management and shop floor operations.
- Experience in Greenfield projects (preferred) to drive new production setups and initiatives.
- Strong background in Quality Assurance (ISO 9001) and implementing quality control processes.
- Proven leadership ability to manage a large team in a production environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement processes.
- Familiarity with budgeting, cost control, and financial planning within an operational context.
- Experience working with regulatory agencies and ensuring compliance with local laws and safety standards.
