Job Description
Experience Competencies
- B. with 5+ years of relevant experience and a proven track record in handling land-related legal matters, including title due diligence, drafting of lease agreement, sale deeds, agreement to lease, agreement to sell, land aggregation agreements, litigation (civil and criminal), and advisory.
- Prior experience in the renewable energy sector (solar/wind) preferred or with a law firm specializing in land and real estate matters.
- Strong working knowledge of land and revenue laws across multiple Indian states, with the ability to track and interpret state-specific notifications, circulars, and regulatory updates.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder coordination, including interaction with landowners, farmers, local authorities, and revenue officials.
- Established network of local counsels and consultants across India to support land acquisition, due diligence, and litigation.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects across geographies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive title due diligence of land parcels across various states, including review of revenue records, title documents, and encumbrance-related documents.
- Draft, review, and negotiate land acquisition and transaction documents, including but not limited to:
- Agreement to Sell/Lease
- Sale Deed/Lease Deed
- Land Aggregation Agreements
- Powers of Attorney
- NOCs and other ancillary documents
- Examine title chains and government records and coordinate verification of land records with relevant revenue authorities.
- Identify, onboard, and manage external legal counsels and consultants across India for:
- Title search and verification
