Job Summary
We are seeking an
Altair Inspire Simulation Engineer with strong experience in
concept-level structural simulation and topology optimization for
off‑highway vehicles (construction, mining, agricultural, defense, or industrial equipment).
The role focuses on
early-stage design validation, lightweighting, and design trade studies, working closely with design, manufacturing, and system engineering teams.
This position plays a key role in
design decision-making before detailed CAE sign‑off, enabling faster and more robust product development.
Key Responsibilities
Concept & Early-Stage Simulation
- Perform structural simulations (stress, displacement, factor of safety) using Altair Inspire
- Conduct topology optimization for Brackets, mounts, frames, housings, ROPS/FOPS components, Suspension, axle, and chassis sub‑systems
- Support design space exploration and trade-off studies
Vehicle & System-Level Support
- Apply realistic off-highway load cases:
- Static, quasi-static, and operational loads
- Rough terrain, shock, vibration, payload, and duty-cycle conditions
- Collaborate with vehicle system engineers to translate field loads into simulation-ready inputs
Design for Manufacturing - Casting, forging, sheet metal, extrusion,
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Product design & CAD teams
- Detailed CAE teams
- Manufacturing & supplier quality teams
- Provide design guidance based on simulation insights
Documentation & Reviews
- Prepare simulation summaries for:
- Design reviews
- Gate reviews (Concept / Feasibility)
- Convert optimization results into CAD-ready design recommendations
Work Experience
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering/ Automotive Engineering
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Altair Inspire
- Knowledge of:
- Basic FEA principles
- Load paths and structural behavior
- Material properties (steel, cast iron, aluminum, composites)
- Solid understanding of off‑highway vehicle structures
