Aix Server, Pseries Server, Virtualization, LVM, LPAR
AIX Operating System engineering and certification
- AIX System Administrator
- Strong understanding of P6/P7/P8/P9/P10 PSeries hardware architectures
- Work as part of project delivery team and provide end to end AIX server build
- Build AIX server requirements according to project specification
- Work hand-in-hand with architect and capacity manager on AIX server capacity server provisioning.
- Performing system administration activities on AIX systems
- Configuring, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting AIX Lpars and physical servers
- PowerVM, Power Firmware and HMC engineering and certification
- PowerHA and GPFS engineering and certification
- Certification and Engineering of associated Systems Management agents/tools/etc.
- Consulting and Design activities related to LoB managed IBM POWER systems/solutions
- Provide AIX operating systems support and ensure maximum performance and uptime for all AIX servers
- Analyze issues related to AIX and supporting software
- Coordinate and support deployment of AIX supporting software, and application related software upgrades/patches
- Maintain infrastructure software (GPFS, PowerHA, AIX 6.1, 7.1, and later, VIOS, PowerVM)
- Responsible for installing and managing IBM AIX systems
- Assist with the development of standards, guidelines and policies related to the design and architecture of Unix AIX solutions
- Working with customers to troubleshoot incidents and escalate with L2 support if/when needed
- Experience in installing of VIO Server/Client, LPAR/DLPAR and installation of AIX through NIM Server
- Provide on job training/coaching when required
- Requires participation in an on-call rotation
- Take problem resolution ownership and facilitate technical bridge during operational disruption in service or service outages
- Monitor events, customer support calls in the call tracking system, return calls from customers, enter new incidents or requests into ServiceNow
- Experience in File Systems, Processes, Performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Manage VIO, Hardware Management Console
- Experience in system recovery using mksysb image using NIM server and Disaster Recovery
- Experience in PowerVM of l virtualization services like Shared Ethernet Adapter (SEA), NPIV configuration, virtual SCSI services to multiple VIO servers/client partitions
- knowledge of UNIX Shell Scripting, to include Perl Minimum 6 to 8 years of experience as AIX admin
