Overview
Item.com is seeking a practical workflow builder to turn recurring business work into reliable, well-documented AI-enabled automations. This is a builder role for people who can map a process, configure tools, integrate systems, test outcomes, and improve adoption.
Responsibilities
- Replace manual, repeatable work with useful AI-enabled workflows.
- Deliver workflows that business users can understand, operate, and improve.
- Create clear documentation, ownership paths, and exception handling.
- Map workflows, inputs, decision points, exceptions, approvals, and desired outcomes.
- Build and maintain automations using workflow/orchestration tools and business applications.
Minimum Requirements:
- Integrate APIs, webhooks, files, forms, spreadsheets, messaging, and internal systems as needed.
- Test happy paths and failure paths; add validation, retries, alerts, and human escalation.
- Document workflow logic, permissions, handoffs, and operating procedures.
- Partner with operations and product stakeholders to measure adoption and business impact.
- Delivery of real workflows or automations, not only prompt usage.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with tools such as n8n, Make, Zapier, Power Automate, Retool, Airtable, or comparable platforms.
- Comfort with APIs, webhooks, JSON, data mapping, and basic debugging.
- Strong process thinking and clear written communication.
- Ability to explain how a workflow handles bad data, outages, duplicate events, and human exceptions.
