Job Description

AI Research Intern: Computer Vision & Video Understanding (UK Research Collaboration)

About Storyvord

Storyvord is an AI-powered platform for film and content production, used by creators and production teams around the world. We're working on an applied AI research collaboration with a UK research institution, and we're looking for curious, driven interns to join the research team.

The role

You'll work with our research team on AI for film and video: how machines can understand what happens on screen and in sound. This role suits someone who enjoys experimenting, learns quickly and likes owning a problem from start to finish.

What you'll do

  • Train, fine-tune and evaluate deep learning models for images, video and audio.
  • Work with computer vision techniques such as CNNs, vision transformers, detection and tracking.
  • Explore how visual and audio signals can be combined for richer understanding.
  • Run experiments, compare against baselines and share what you learn.
  • Read research papers and try out promising ideas.
  • Use AI coding and research tools like Claude Code to move faster, and always check that what they produce is correct.
  • Present your progress to the team and to research collaborators in the UK.

What we're looking for

  • A student or recent graduate in Computer Science, AI/ML, Electronics or a related field.
  • Good Python skills and hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • An understanding of deep learning fundamentals: CNNs, training, fine-tuning and evaluation.
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants, especially Claude Code, for building, debugging and research work.
  • The judgement to validate AI output: you test code before trusting it, check claims against papers or data, and spot when an answer looks confident but is wrong.
  • At least one project in computer vision, video or audio. A college, personal or Kaggle project counts.
  • Curiosity, ownership, and the habit of asking how do I know this actually works
  • Good written and spoken English.

Nice to have

  • Experience with video or audio data.
  • Familiarity with Hugging Face, OpenCV or ffmpeg.
  • Experience using AI tools across a research workflow: literature review, experiment scripting, data analysis and writing up results.
  • A research paper, thesis or open-source contribution.
  • An interest in films and storytelling.

What you'll get

  • Real research work on AI for the film industry, not toy tasks.
  • Exposure to an international research collaboration.
  • GPU compute for your experiments.
  • Mentorship from the team, and a path to a full-time role for strong performers.
  • Stipend: 2 Months Unpaid and 4 Months Paid

Details

  • Duration: 6 months
  • Location: Remote (India)
  • Some overlap with UK working hours (Indian afternoons)
