About the Role

Powers by Biz is hiring two highly hands-on Full Stack Software Engineers to help build products and platforms that combine AI-powered workflows with robust non-AI application logic.

This is an execution-heavy individual contributor role for engineers who like building real systems, shipping meaningful outcomes, and improving what they build until it is reliable, scalable, and production-ready. You will work closely with founders and product managers to solve complex problems across multiple domains, convert fast-moving ideas into working software, and help shape the company's transition from services to repeatable products and platforms.

We are looking for engineers who use LLMs, AI coding tools, cloud development environments, and modern engineering workflows to move faster, but who also have the judgment to know where shortcuts create long-term problems. This role requires strong ownership, high accountability, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to independently drive work from problem statement to shipped outcome.

The first 6 to 9 months will involve a steep learning curve, broad exposure to different domains, and the opportunity to work on high-impact systems at meaningful scale. This is a strong fit for engineers who enjoy intensity, autonomy, problem-solving depth, and the challenge of building for scale while continuously improving quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Build and ship full stack product features across frontend, backend, APIs, data systems, and cloud infrastructure.

Develop systems that combine LLM-powered workflows with deterministic business logic, validations, controls, and standard software components.

Work directly with founders and product managers to translate ambiguous business requirements into robust technical solutions.

Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to accelerate development without compromising engineering quality or maintainability.

Review, fix, refactor, and productionize generated code, legacy code, and newly built modules.

Identify and resolve issues related to correctness, edge cases, reliability, performance, observability, scalability, and developer usability.

Convert one-off solutions into reusable, parameterized components, services, and platform building blocks.

Improve predictability, control, and cost-efficiency in LLM-backed systems through sound engineering and system design.

Troubleshoot live issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes rather than temporary patches.

Contribute to the company's shift from custom execution to repeatable products and scalable platforms.

What We Are Looking For

3–7 years of experience building and shipping production-grade web applications or software products.

Strong full stack engineering capability across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and cloud environments.

Proven ability to independently build, debug, optimize, and improve systems in production or near-production environments.

Comfort using LLMs, AI coding assistants, and modern developer tooling as part of day-to-day engineering work.

Strong understanding of production readiness, including code quality, testing, observability, reliability, security, scalability, and maintainability.

Ability to improve rough, fast-built, or generated code and turn it into stable, clean, extensible systems.

Strong instincts for refactoring, modular design, reuse, parameterization, and long-term code health.

Experience working on systems with meaningful traffic, complexity, or scale.

Ability to optimize for performance, infrastructure efficiency, and cost.

Strong ownership mindset with high accountability for outcomes, timelines, and quality.

Comfort operating in fast-moving environments with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and limited hand-holding.

Clear communication skills and the ability to work closely with founders and product managers.

Preferred Experience

Experience building products that combine LLM-based workflows with conventional software systems.

Experience bringing predictability to AI-enabled systems through structured outputs, validations, retries, routing, monitoring, fallbacks, or human-in-the-loop mechanisms.

Experience optimizing cost, latency, and reliability in LLM-backed applications.

Experience working on high-volume systems, performance-sensitive applications, or large-scale workflows.

Experience in startup, founder-led, or high-ownership environments.

Experience building reusable internal tools, platforms, frameworks, or cross-domain product modules.

Technical Skills

Candidates should be strong across most of the following:

React, Next.js, TypeScript, modern frontend architecture

Node.js, Python, or similar backend stacks

REST APIs, GraphQL, service integrations, async workflows

SQL / NoSQL databases, caching, queues, job workers

AWS, GCP, or Azure

CI/CD, testing, logging, monitoring, observability

LLM APIs, prompt workflows, structured outputs, orchestration, evaluation, fallback handling

You rely on AI tools for speed but are not comfortable fixing, validating, and hardening the output yourself.
