About the Role
We're looking for an AI Developer with a genuine filmmaking background — someone who thinks like a director and storyteller first, and uses AI tools as the camera, crew, and post-production pipeline. This is not a purely technical role: you'll be making creative decisions about shot composition, performance, pacing, and visual tone, then using AI generation, upscaling, and grading tools to execute that vision at a fraction of traditional production time. You'll work directly on client commercials, AI character development, and Thirai's own original content.
What You'll Do
• Translate scripts, briefs, and creative direction into shot-ready visual sequences using AI generation tools
• Apply real filmmaking principles — composition, blocking, lighting, continuity, pacing — to AI-generated footage, not just prompt and accept
• Own the full visual workflow: reference and direction → AI generation → upscale/refine → final grade
• Maintain consistent characters, tone, and visual identity across a client's campaign, sometimes months apart
• Collaborate with the founder/creative director on concept development and storyboarding before production begins
• Evaluate and integrate new AI tools (image, video, voice, and lip-sync generation) as the space evolves, without losing sight of craft
• Contribute to Thirai's original character and entertainment slate, not just client commercial work
What We're Looking For
• 3+ years of experience in filmmaking, video production, animation, or a closely related visual storytelling field
• Strong understanding of direction and storytelling fundamentals — shot composition, pacing, performance, visual continuity — not just software proficiency
• Hands-on experience with AI visual generation tools (e.g. Runway, Midjourney, Sync.so, ElevenLabs, Magnific, Weavy, or comparable) — or a fast, demonstrated ability to pick up new ones
• A portfolio or reel that shows visual and narrative judgment, whether from traditional production, motion design, animation, or AI-assisted work
• Comfort working independently in a remote, fast-moving small studio — this role has real creative ownership, not just execution
• Bonus: experience with color grading, sound design, or multilingual/voice localization workflows
