You will play a crucial role in solution delivery with the Global Automation program. Reporting to the Engineering Lead for technical practice and the Agile Project Manager for project delivery, you will ensure our AI and agentic automation projects deliver quantifiable returns.
You will be charged with designing, developing, and refining AI-powered solutions that integrate with our Hero portfolio products or operate as standalone intelligent systems.
The AOC is chartered to develop and deliver automation & AI products, support global automation products or projects delivered by Automation delivery teams from around WPP.

Are you an experienced AI Engineer passionate about building cutting-edge agentic solutions and AI-powered automation This role focuses on designing and developing intelligent systems that span Human2System, System2System, Agent-to-Agent (A2A), and agentic data pipeline architectures. You will work with the latest foundation models, specialized AI frameworks, and emerging agent orchestration technologies, directly contributing to WPP's AI- driven operational excellence worldwide.
What you'll be doing:
- AI Solution Development: Design and develop AI and agentic solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing Hero portfolio products or function as standalone intelligent systems.
- Agentic Architecture: Build sophisticated automation architectures including Human2System interactions, System2System integrations, Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communications, and agentic data pipelines.
- Agent Governance: Work closely with the AAI Team Lead and Engineering Lead to refine governance solutions ensuring safe, secure, and compliant agent operations.
- Model Integration: Implement and optimize solutions using Microsoft Copilot Agent Studio, Google Vertex AI, Azure AI Foundry, and n8n frameworks.
- Custom Tooling: Develop and maintain custom MCP (Model Context Protocol) and Agent Tool governance solutions.
- Data & Embeddings: Design and implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines and vector embedding frameworks for production environments.
- Evaluation Framework: Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive evaluation frameworks to ensure AI solution quality and performance.
- API & Integration: Build efficient APIs and integrations using FastAPI, leveraging deep expertise in AI framework integration patterns.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for AI workflows, agent logic, and system architectures, while collaborating with Agile PMs and Engineering Leads to resolve technical blockers.
What you'll need:- Overall experience: 7-9 years of experience in automation operations, technology development, or software engineering (Python preferred).
- AI/ML Specialization: At least 3 years of dedicated experience specifically with AI/ML systems, agentic frameworks, or intelligent automation technologies.
- Programming Expertise: Expert proficiency in Python or TypeScript, with deep knowledge of AI frameworks including Langchain/Langgraph and FastAPI.
- Production AI Experience: Proven production experience with RAG/Vector embedding frameworks, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) architectures.
- Evaluation & Testing: Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining evaluation frameworks for AI system performance and quality assurance.
- Foundation Models: Hands-on experience working with the latest foundation and specialist models across multiple providers.
- Agent Platforms: Experience with Microsoft Copilot Agent Studio is a strong plus.
- Methodology: Proven experience as an Agile practitioner, specifically within Kanban or Scrum environments.
- Problem-solving: Proven experience dealing with technical blockers, model performance issues, and complex integration challenges.
- Effective Communicator: Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for documenting technical architectures and communicating with stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in maintaining AI system configurations and governance documentation.
