About the Client
Our client is a technology-driven organization that builds intelligent cloud platforms and modern software products. They apply AI, automation, and cloud-native engineering to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions, and they sustain a collaborative engineering culture built around innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. Engineers here are expected to own what they build end to end and to push the technical standard of the team forward rather than simply execute against specifications.
About the Role
We are looking for a software engineer who has moved into AI engineering – someone with a solid foundation
in building and shipping production software who, over roughly the last two years, has shifted their day-to-day
work toward building AI and agentic applications. This is a software engineering role focused on developing in the
cloud. It is not a DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure operations role, and it is not a data science or analytics role.
You will combine advanced Python development with deep expertise in either AWS or Azure and practical
experience shipping AI and agentic applications to production. You will own application design and
implementation, integrate AI models and workflows into cloud solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional
teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable software.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade cloud-native applications and services using Python.
• Build secure, scalable REST APIs and event-driven services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or
Flask.
• Design and implement solutions on either AWS or Azure using appropriate serverless, PaaS, container, data,
and integration services.
• Build and integrate AI and agentic applications that consume foundation models and orchestrate tools and
workflows.
• Implement Generative AI patterns such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector
search, tool calling, guardrails, evaluations, and cost controls where relevant.
• Integrate managed AI services such as Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, or equivalent platforms into
production applications.
• Apply strong software engineering practices, including automated testing, code review, API design,
observability, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot complex application and cloud integration issues with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, platform, and engineering teams, and provide technical guidance to
other engineers.
Must-Have Skills
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on cloud application development.
• Advanced Python development skills, with Python as the primary language used to deliver production-grade
applications.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or a comparable Python web framework in production.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, the majority of it spent building and shipping
software products, including substantial hands-on cloud application development.
• Strong production experience in at least one cloud platform – AWS or Azure – building and running
applications on that platform. Practical working exposure to the second cloud is valued but not required; please
note that CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps does not by itself count as Azure platform experience.
• At least 1.5 years, ideally 2+ years, of hands-on experience building AI/ML or Generative AI applications
in a production environment, as a core part of the role rather than an occasional contribution.
• Demonstrated experience building AI agents or agentic workflows, consuming model APIs, and integrating AI
capabilities into software products.
• Experience with LLM orchestration and at least one managed AI platform, such as Azure OpenAI or Amazon
Bedrock.
• Practical experience with RAG, embeddings, and vector search.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, including serverless, PaaS, container-based services, and
event-driven systems.
• Strong API design, automated testing, debugging, and code quality practices.
• Ability to demonstrate both hands-on execution and deep technical understanding, beyond theoretical or
architecture-only experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ownership mentality, and effective cross-functional
communication.
• Professional English proficiency.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice-to-Have Skills
• Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience with LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, LangChain, or equivalent frameworks.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, including reviewing AI-generated code.
• Kubernetes experience.
• Observability experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog,
ELK/OpenSearch, or similar tools.
• AWS, Azure, Terraform, or AI/ML certifications.
Conditions
• Location: Fully remote, restricted to candidates based in India.
• Working timezone: Primary working timezone is UTC-5, with a minimum of 5 hours of required daily overlap. • Engagement type: Contractor role - 6-month contract, renewable.
• Dedication: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Equipment: BYOD required (you will use your own laptop/equipment).
