Job Description

The Role

NxtWave is scaling fast2,000+ hiring companies, 650+ districts, and a product roadmap that moves at startup pace. We need someone who ships AI solutions that teams actually use, not someone who builds decks about them.

This is an 80% building, 20% coordination role. You will own automation initiatives end-to-endfrom spotting the problem to deploying the fixand measure success by one thing:

Number of AI solutions live and actively used 90 days after launch.

You report directly to leadership. No committee approvals. No months-long sprints. We ship in days.

What You'll Own

Automation & AI Deployment

  • Identify high-friction workflows across Sales, Ops, Finance, and Supportthen eliminate them with AI.
  • Build and maintain automations using Make, n8n, and Zapier; integrate via REST APIs and webhooks.
  • Deploy AI agents (content generation, data extraction, summarisation, Q&A) using ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
  • Write clear, actionable PRDs for complex initiatives; own the backlog from idea to live.

Metrics & Dashboards

  • Define success metrics for every solution before you build it.
  • Build real-time dashboards (Retool, Notion, Airtable) and automate weekly/monthly reporting.
  • Analyse adoption, funnels, and retention; run A/B experiments and feed insights back into improvements.
  • Integrate data from CRMs, ERPs, spreadsheets, and databases into a single source of truth.

AI Calling & Conversational Automation

  • Deploy AI voice agents for outbound calls, lead qualification, and follow-ups (Bland AI, Vapi, Retell).
  • Own scripts, integrations, and monitoring end-to-end.
  • Track and optimise: conversion rate, connect rate, and sentiment.

Strategy & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Translate company priorities into a sequenced AI roadmap with clear milestones.
  • Size opportunities with data; run build-vs-buy assessments for new AI tooling.
  • Align cross-functional teams (Product, Sales, Operations) with concise decision docsnot lengthy presentations.
  • Enable internal teams through release notes, playbooks, and hands-on workshops.

What Success Looks Like (First 90180 Days)

  • 2+ AI automations live, adopted, and moving a core KPI.
  • Real-time dashboards in use by at least two teams.
  • A clear measurelearniterate rhythm established.
  • Strong satisfaction from Engineering, Ops, and Business Owner partners.

Who You Are Must-Have

  • You've built and shipped products end-to-endfrontend, backend, database, and deploymenton your own.
  • Hands-on experience with Make, n8n, or Zapiershipped to production, not just prototyped.
  • You've personally built apps using LLM APIs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini). Not evaluated. Built.
  • Strong APIs, webhooks, and data-flow fundamentals.
  • SQL, spreadsheets, and basic databasesyou can pull your own data.
  • Clear written communication; you can align a room with a one-pager.
  • High ownership: you chase problems, not tasks.

Technical Stack

  • REST APIs, JSON, structured data pipelines.
  • AI-assisted coding tools: Cursor, Replit, Lovable.
  • Modern AI stacks: OpenAI Agents, LangChain/LangGraph, vector DBs, RAG.
  • Basic web apps and hosting; comfort deploying what you build.

Good to Have

  • AI calling tools: Bland AI, Vapi, Retell.
  • Python or JavaScript scripting.
  • No-code/low-code: Webflow, Framer.
  • EdTech, operations, or startup background.

This Role Is Not For You If...

  • You need team sign-off and a detailed roadmap before producing any output.
  • You need a team before you produce output.
  • Your last hands-on AI build was more than 6 months ago.
  • You prefer writing specs over shipping solutions.
  • You measure your progress in months, not days.
  • You coordinate work more than you do it.
  • You manage servers, not build products.
