Job Description

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI agents for power plant operations, diagnostics, optimization, and decision support
  • Translate power plant operational logic and control system behavior into robust, intelligent agent architectures
  • Build, train, test, and optimize AI/ML models and agent-based systems using Python
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyze power plant and control system data
  • Integrate AI agents with control systems and historian data, preferably Ovation DCS
  • Implement agent validation, testing, and performance monitoring in operational plant environments
  • Continuously enhance AI agent performance based on real plant feedback and live data
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and improve deployed AI agents in production systems

Who You Are:

In this role, you will help shape the future of intelligent engineering and power plant operations by developing hands-on AI/ML and agent-based solutions that simplify engineering work, increase productivity, and unlock new operational capabilities.

You will build intelligent tools and AI agents that automate control logic generation, graphics configuration, reporting, and engineering workflows, enabling plant engineers to focus on higher-value innovation. By analyzing control system and operational data, you will uncover patterns, develop predictive capabilities, and deliver data-driven decision support for real-world power plant environments.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Control Engineering), with additional coursework or exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Machine Learning.
  • 1-5 years of experience in power plant operations, control systems (preferably Emerson Ovation DCS), or industrial automation, with a proven ability to lead and manage technology-driven projects.
  • Hands-on programming experience in Python, with working knowledge of data handling, API integration, and prototyping AI-based applications.
  • Familiarity with AI and ML concepts, such as knowledge-based reasoning, decision automation, and natural language interaction.
  • Strong analytical and leadership skills, with the ability to translate operational challenges into practical AI agent use cases and guide teams toward successful implementation.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across engineering, AI development, and plant operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • We're looking for someone with strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI, including LLMs and advanced techniques that drive automation, optimization, and decision support. Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and MLOps is essential, along with hands-on experience deploying AI in real-world, industrial environments.
  • A background in power plant operations, such as boilers, turbines, combustion, and load optimization, combined with knowledge of control theory (PID, MPC, fuzzy logic, multivariable control) will help you apply AI/ML to optimize performance. Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS or similar control systems is highly valued, particularly in integrating AI modules into engineering workflows.
  • You should bring experience in predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and process optimization using time-series data. Familiarity with responsible AI practices, such as explainability, bias detection, and complianceis important to ensure safe adoption in critical infrastructure. Strong communication and collaboration skills will enable you to connect AI innovations with domain experts and deliver practical, impactful solutions.
  • Exposure to cloud-based AI environments (Azure, AWS, GCP) and industrial data pipelines for agent deployment and monitoring.
  • Passion for bridging AI and domain expertise, ensuring responsible, explainable, and value-driven AI agent deployment in critical industrial environments.
