Job Context & Major Challenges

Alupuram Works has capacity to produces and sells over 13800 tons per annum of Aluminium Extrusions and caters to a wide spectrum of end uses covering applications in Architectural (18%), Industrial (26%), Electrical (14 %), Transport (12 %), Consumer Durables (4 %), Defence (9 %) and other miscellaneous (17%) segments. Today Alupuram has over 700 customers and produces over 7000 different profiles (in the extrusion presses) in over 30 alloys (which are cast at Alupuram Cast House). Extrusion Manufacturers are fiercely competing in their own niche markets, often denying entry into some segments. In order to remain competitive extrusions have to be processed taking into consideration the tailor made requirements from the customer. Ensuing that the customer specific processing is done for value addition happens in Post Extrusion. Post Extrusion Process includes, heat treatment, rectification to maintain the desired dimensions, adopting the appropriate packing methods and other product / customer specific processes.

Major Challenges Involve:

Adopting customer specific practice for over 700 customers

Maintain in-sourcing and outsourcing activity without affecting Industrial Relations.

Reduce energy conservation in old furnaces.

Provide value added services as per customer requirement

Provide cost-effective packing methods

Key Result Areas

	KRA (Accountabilities) (Max 1325 Characters)	Supporting Actions (Max 1325 Characters)
KRA1	i) To plan and monitor operations of Post Extrusion so as to meet targeted production and other efficiency factors at budgeted cost. ii) To take effective steps to control WIP and warehouse inventory as per business plan. iii) To ensure the health of equipments in Post Extrusion through adherence to schedule cleaning. iv) Monitor equipment utilization of Post extrusion Area v) To give inputs related to Production figures, cost control activities adopted in Post Extrusion in regular frequency.
KRA2	WCM activity	i) Follow the culture of WCM in the dept.
KRA3	HRD activities and discipline	i) Prepare and implement annual skill development training class for operatives in Post extrusion. ii) Initiate disciplinary actions against operatives as and when required. iii) Maintain the administration of the Post Extrusion and control the overtime below the target. iv) Initiate annual merit ratings for operatives and supervisor in Post extrusion Area
KRA4	Safety	i) Prepare and implement annual skill development training class for operatives in Post extrusion. ii) Initiate disciplinary actions against operatives as and when required. iii) Maintain the administration of the Post Extrusion and control the overtime below the target. iv) Initiate annual merit ratings for operatives and supervisor in Post extrusion Area
KRA5	Energy conservation and cost reduction activities	i) Monitor consumption of furnace energy related to furnace load. ii) Effective use of equipment to get rated outputs. iii) Monitor consumption of different packing material consumptions and optimize the use and cost
KRA6	ISO and OHSAS system upkeep in Post Extrusion Area	i) Maintain all documents of ISO 9000-2000, ISO 14000, OHSAS-18001 for Post Extrusion Department. ii) Amend necessary changes in documents, procedure and others if required. iii) Take corrective action for all the NCRs during external or internal audits.
KRA7	Developmental activities in Post Extrusion Area	vi) Give inputs for process developments for Post Extrusion Area vii) Analyse and find out bottlenecks in process and make plans to overcome the same. viii) Implement the recommendations of the technical audits.
KRA8	Monitor & implement controls on in source & outsource activities in Post extrusion	i) Planning of in sourced packing, loading & rectification jobs at Post extrusion as the requirement arises. ii) Planning of outsourced jobs like cutting, packing, rectification etc in Post extrusion so as to meet specific customer requirements. iii) Training of in-sourced/outsourced contract workmen on quality and inspection procedures iv) Administration of metal inventory lying with the outsourced contractor v) Development and finalisation of vendors for outsourced activity with the help of Materials department
KRA9	Maintaining the customer specific process in Post Extrusion.	i) Adhere to customer specific processes in Post Extrusion Area ii) Take actions to prevent customer complaints related to Post Extrusion. iii) Give inputs in developing customer specific processes, related to Post extrusion.
