Designation: AGM – Taxation

Location: Mumbai

Experience: 8+ Years

Salary: Upto 35 LPA

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced AGM – Taxation to manage and oversee the company's direct and indirect taxation function. The role will be responsible for ensuring tax compliance, managing GST and direct-tax matters, supporting tax planning and optimisation, handling assessments and notices, and providing tax advisory to various business functions.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in a large/mid-sized corporate environment, preferably with exposure to e-commerce, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, construction or a diversified business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Direct Taxation

Manage direct tax compliance and ensure timely filing of income-tax returns and related forms.

Review tax computations, advance tax workings and tax provisions.

Review TDS/TCS compliance, deductions, payments and return filings.

Handle income-tax assessments, notices, queries and departmental correspondence.

2. GST & Indirect Taxation

Oversee GST compliance across applicable GST registrations.

Review GST returns, reconciliations and Input Tax Credit (ITC) utilisation.

Ensure timely filing of GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9/9C and other applicable returns.

Review GST reconciliations between books, sales/purchase data and GST portals.

Monitor GSTR-2B, ITC eligibility, RCM and GST credits.

Handle GST notices, assessments, audits, investigations and litigation.

3. Tax Advisory & Business Support

Provide taxation advice to Finance, Procurement, Sales, Operations and Business teams.

Review business transactions and contracts from a tax perspective.

Evaluate tax implications of new products, business models and commercial arrangements.

Ensure appropriate tax treatment and documentation for new business initiatives.

4. Tax Audit, Assessment & Litigation

Coordinate statutory, internal and tax audits.

Manage tax assessments and departmental proceedings.

Prepare responses to tax notices and departmental queries.

Maintain trackers for assessments, appeals, litigation and tax notices.

5. Tax Process & Compliance

Establish and monitor tax compliance calendars.

Ensure timely payment and filing of all tax-related obligations.

Develop and implement tax SOPs and internal controls.

Prepare periodic tax MIS and management reports.

6. Team & Stakeholder Management

Lead and mentor the taxation team.

Coordinate with Finance, Accounts, Legal, Procurement, Business and Operations teams.

Manage relationships with tax consultants, auditors and government authorities.

Key Requirements

CA qualification is preferred/required.

8+ years of relevant post-qualification experience in taxation.

Strong experience in Direct Tax + GST/Indirect Tax.

Experience in a large corporate/diversified organisation preferred.

Strong understanding of the Income Tax Act, GST laws, TDS/TCS and related regulations.

Experience in tax assessments, audits, notices and litigation.
