Job Summary

The AGM/ Sr. Manager HR & IR will lead HR and Industrial Relations for a large-scale manufacturing plant with 3,000+ employees (permanent & contract).

This is a mission-critical leadership role responsible for maintaining a harmonious IR environment, driving HR operations, ensuring compliance, and partnering closely with plant leadership to support productivity and business outcomes. The role demands deep hands-on Industrial Relations (IR) expertise, proven capability in managing unionized environments, and strategic capability to steer people and culture initiatives at scale.

Job Responsibilities

Industrial Relations (IR) Leadership

  • Lead IR strategy, union negotiations, collective bargaining, and settlement agreements.
  • Build and maintain a harmonious IR climate across permanent and contract workforce.
  • Manage domestic enquiries, disciplinary actions, and grievance redressal.
  • Ensure fair, consistent, and values-driven handling of employee matters.
  • Engage regularly with union representatives and external stakeholders to ensure stability.

HR Operations & Governance

  • Oversee end-to-end HR operations for the plant, ensuring seamless policies, processes, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to all statutory, labor law, and factory compliance norms.
  • Drive implementation of HR policies, disciplinary frameworks, and workforce governance practices.
  • Collate and analyze employee feedback; recommend enhancements to improve engagement and work harmony.

People & Culture

  • Promote a culture of discipline, employee engagement, productivity, and safety.
  • Lead initiatives on workforce planning, retention, communication, and morale building.
  • Facilitate counseling, conflict resolution, and employee welfare programs.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Partner with Plant Leadership and Corporate HR to align people strategy with plant objectives.
  • Lead HR & IR projects focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Serve as the key HR/IR contact for audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions.

Skills

What we require (Desired Skills and abilities)

  • 15+ years of HR/IR experience in large-scale manufacturing setups.
  • Proven hands-on experience managing 2,0003,000+ manpower plants.
  • Strong exposure to unionized environments (mandatory).
  • Deep knowledge of labor laws, compliance, statutory processes, disciplinary management, and factory norms.
  • Mature leader with strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to independently manage complex IR issues with speed, maturity, and sound judgment.

Educational Qualifications

  • MBA / PGDM in HR / IR / Labor Relations or equivalent (preferred).
