Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Transport Coordination Head to lead
and optimize fleet utilization across India. This role is critical in ensuring efficient
movement of goods, maximizing vehicle productivity, reducing idle time, and
minimizing transportation costs while maintaining high service levels. The ideal
candidate will have extensive experience in fleet management, logistics coordination,
and cross-functional team leadership on a national scale, with an added focus on
business development opportunities related to transport and logistics services.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or
related field (MBA preferred).
10+years of experience in fleet management, logistics coordination,
transportation planning, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strongknowledge of Indian logistics networks, compliance norms, and
transport operations.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a data-driven mindset.
Preferred Traits:
Experience working in industries like FMCG, e-commerce, manufacturing, or
third-party logistics.
Business Development Acumen: Ability to identify and develop new transport-
related business opportunities, including external logistics services, fleet
leasing, and project-based transport partnerships
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a multi-location
team.
Willingness to travel frequently to regional hubs as required.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fleet Utilization Strategy:
o Develop and implement nationwide strategies to optimize fleet usage,
reduce empty runs, and enhance vehicle turnaround times.
o Analyse demand and capacity to ensure efficient route planning and
vehicle deployment.
2. Operational Management:
o Oversee transport operations across all regional hubs and ensure
adherence to timelines and cost targets.
o Coordinate between regional transport teams, warehouse operations,
and customer service departments to ensure smooth dispatches and
deliveries.
3. Vendor and Partner Management:
o Manage and evaluate third-party logistics (3PL) partners and transport
vendors for performance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
o Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to improve reliability and
reduce expenses.
4. Technology and Analytics:
o Leverage transport management systems (TMS), GPS tracking, and
analytics tools to monitor fleet performance and derive actionable insights.
o Generate regular MIS reports on KPIs like cost per trip, load factor,
delivery timelines, and asset utilization.
5. Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and safety standards across all
transport operations.
o Promote a culture of safe driving practices and regulatory compliance
among drivers and partners.
6. Team Leadership:
o Lead, train, and develop a team of regional transport managers and
coordinators.
o Drive performance management, accountability, and continuous
improvement initiatives.
o Conduct training sessions for staff and partners on process improvements
and compliance
