As a Senior Agentic Software Engineer - Cloud Migration, you will design and build AI agents that automate key steps of cloud migration programs: discovery, assessment, migration planning, wave design, and infrastructure-as-code generation. You'll combine your cloud/infra expertise with GenAI and multi-agent orchestration to create reusable, platform-agnostic accelerators used across Amdocs Cloud Studio engagements.
You'll work in a cross-functional agentic squad with architects, data engineers, and the R&D foundation team to turn real customer migration patterns (e.g., VMware exit, OpenShift, hybrid cloud) into enterprise-grade agentic solutions.
Key Responsibilities
. Design and implement LLM-powered agents that support:
o Environment discovery and inventory analysis
o Workload classification (6Rs), grouping, and dependency mapping
o Migration wave planning and landing zone recommendations
o IaC template generation (Terraform/CloudFormation)
. Collaborate with the foundation/platform team to:
o Use shared memory, context, and orchestration frameworks
o Contribute new agentic primitives (e.g., workload analyzer, IaC generator) for reuse
. Integrate agents into cloud-native services (APIs, microservices, or workflows on Kubernetes/serverless).
. Implement guardrails, evaluation, and observability for AI behavior (metrics, logging, test harnesses).
. Partner with Cloud Studio architects and delivery teams to turn field patterns into reusable accelerators.
. Contribute to demo environments and portals (e.g., self-service migration demos for presales and events).
. Document designs, decisions, and patterns in a way that others can reuse and extend.
Common Skills & Experience (All Agentic Engineer Roles)
GenAI & Agentic Systems
. Hands-on experience integrating LLMs via APIs (OpenAI / Azure OpenAI / Bedrock / others).
. Practical experience with at least one framework such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar for building LLM/agentic apps.
. Strong prompt & context engineering skills: structuring system prompts, chain-of-thought hints, retrieval contexts, and examples.
. Experience building tool-using agents (e.g., agents that call code analyzers, cloud APIs, or databases).
. Understanding of RAG patterns (retrieval-augmented generation): embeddings, vector stores, hybrid search, and when RAG vs. fine-tuning is appropriate.
. Exposure to multi-agent orchestration (e.g., task decomposition, agent-to-agent handoff, shared context/state machines) is a strong plus.
Software Engineering & Architecture
. 5-8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
. Strong coding skills in Python plus at least one of: TypeScript, Java, Go, or .NET.
. Experience building APIs, services, and CLIs, and integrating them in a cloud environment.
. Solid understanding of cloud-native patterns: microservices, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines.
. Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and observability ability to design systems that can be debugged in production.
. Strong testing mindset: unit tests, integration tests, plus basic understanding of LLM evaluation approaches (golden datasets, scoring, human review loops).
Ways of Working
. Ability to work in cross-functional squads (architects, engineers, UX, PM, domain SMEs).
. Experience in consulting, professional services, or product engineering is a plus.
. Strong written and verbal communication able to explain complex designs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
. Comfortable working in a fast-moving R&D environment with iterative discovery and delivery.
Cloud Migration - Domain-Specific Skills
Cloud & Infrastructure Expertise
. Hands-on experience with at least two major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
. Strong understanding of on-prem & virtualized environments, particularly VMware familiarity with migration tools/approaches (e.g., VMware exit, lift-and-shift, replatform).
. Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code:
o Terraform strongly preferred
o CloudFormation / Bicep / ARM/CDK is a plus
. Solid grasp of:
o VPC/VNet design (subnets, routing, NAT, load balancers)
o Identity & access management (IAM, RBAC)
o Security & compliance considerations (data residency, encryption, network segmentation)
Cloud Migration Concepts
. Familiarity with cloud migration strategies (6Rs/7Rs, wave planning, landing zones, blueprinting).
. Experience with:
o Application and infrastructure discovery/assessment
o Grouping workloads based on dependency and risk
o Designing Cloud landing zones and target reference architectures
. Experience participating in or leading migration programs (even if non-AI) is a strong plus.
Agentic Migration Use Cases
. Ability to build agents that can:
o Read CMDB/exported inventories and identify migration candidates and blockers
o Propose wave plans, target architectures, and landing zones based on patterns
o Generate IaC templates, runbooks, and validation checklists
o Surface risks and recommendations (unsupported OS, deprecated tech, compliance flags)
Nice-to-Have
. Experience integrating with migration tools (AWS MGN, Azure Migrate, HCX, etc.).
. Exposure to FinOps or cost modeling for cloud migrations.
Ability to work in cross-functional squads (architects, engineers, UX, PM, domain SMEs).
