Agency Operations Strategist All India

About the Role

Walter Cuminns Shipping Services is looking for an experienced Agency Operations Strategist – All India to strengthen and expand our vessel agency operations across Indian ports. The position will be based at our Head Office in Kochi.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of Indian ports, vessel agency operations, port procedures and agency network management, with the ability to develop and implement operational strategies across India.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for vessel agency operations across India.

• Strengthen and expand WCS's agency network across major and minor Indian ports.

• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable local port agents and service partners.

• Coordinate and monitor vessel agency operations across multiple Indian ports.

• Maintain strong relationships with vessel owners, charterers, port agents, terminals, port authorities and maritime service providers.

• Establish and improve operational procedures, SOPs and service standards.

• Monitor port-agent performance, service quality, operational efficiency and turnaround times.

• Handle complex vessel-agency operational issues and provide practical solutions.

• Support the management team in developing new port coverage and agency opportunities.

• Identify operational gaps and implement improvements in service quality, efficiency and cost management.

• Guide and support port-level operations teams and agents.

• Prepare operational reports, performance reviews and strategic recommendations for management.

• Travel to Indian ports when required for agent meetings, operational reviews and business requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in vessel agency, shipping agency, port agency or related maritime operations.

• Strong practical knowledge of Indian ports and port procedures.

• Proven experience coordinating or managing vessel agency operations.

• Good understanding of vessel calls, port formalities, documentation, husbandry services and port-agent coordination.

• Strong knowledge of the Indian shipping and maritime-services network.

• Experience developing operational processes, SOPs or agency networks.

• Strong negotiation, coordination and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

• Willingness to travel across India when required.
