- Anticipates scaling challenges, failure modes, and long-term evolution
- Defines and drives technical strategy, not just implementation
- Expected Evidence:
- Systems adopted by multiple teams or used at organizational scale
- Architecture diagrams with clear design rationale
- Architectural Decision-Making
- Demonstrates structured decision-making across:
- Performance vs cost vs reliability vs complexity
- Build vs buy vs open source
- Synchronous vs asynchronous design
- Clearly articulates tradeoffs and alternatives
- Expected Evidence:
- Documented design decisions
- Ability to explain why a solution was chosen over others
- Execution Speed & Delivery
- Able to:
- Set up environment quickly
- Understand existing systems rapidly
- Deliver working proof-of-concepts within 1 day
