We are seeking an experienced Senior Aerospace Design Engineer to lead the design and development of aerospace structures and composite components at our Hyderabad facility. The role requires deep technical expertise in CATIA V5/V6, strong knowledge of composites design & manufacturing, and the ability to guide junior engineers while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and validation of aerospace composite and metallic structures using CATIA V5/V6 (Part Design, Assembly, Drafting, Generative Shape Design, Composites Workbench).
- Develop laminate designs, ply books, and draping simulations, ensuring structural efficiency and manufacturability.
- Perform design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
- Collaborate closely with stress analysis, manufacturing, tooling, and certification teams to ensure design integrity and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to airworthiness standards (EASA/FAA/CS/FAR) and aerospace quality requirements (AS9100).
- Oversee preparation of engineering documentation, BOMs, and configuration control in PLM systems (Teamcenter / ENOVIA / Windchill).
- Drive process improvement, automation, and best practices in design methodology and CAD data management.
- Act as a technical mentor, training junior engineers in CATIA and aerospace design principles.
- Support customer interactions, design reviews, and program delivery milestones.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
- 712 years of experience in aerospace structural design, with a strong focus on composites.
- Expertise in CATIA V5/V6, especially Composites Design & Aerospace Sheet Metal Workbenches.
- In-depth knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes (AFP, ATL, RTM, autoclave, hand lay-up), and repair techniques.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, ASME Y14.5, and aerospace drawing standards.
- Experience working with aircraft OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
Desired Skills
- Hands-on experience with FEA integration for composites (NASTRAN, Hyper Mesh, Abaqus).
- Familiarity with certification processes, design allowable, and substantiation methods.
