Job Description

Job Description Summary
As a Aero Simulation Engineer, they will primarily focus on maturing high-fidelity flow simulation process for components like Turbine Vane Frame, Low pressure Turbine and Turbine Rear Frame, impacting current and future engine programs. In this role it is expected to develop standardized simulation methodologies by collaborating with other team members and global design team. Learn the current aero design processes and apply them to estimate performance impact due to manufacturing deviations and design change request activities from legacy engine programsJob Description

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop standardized simulation process for resolving unsteady complex 3D turbomachinery flows including cavities and leakages
  • Develop high fidelity flow simulation process for performance characterization of current and future engine programs targeting components like Turbines and Frames
  • Improve legacy and lower order simulation tools leveraging learnings from high fidelity simulation
  • Work collaboratively with global design team on process validation
  • Perform CFD analysis (1D, 2D & 3D) to understand impact on aero performance due to manufacturing deviations and design changes.
  • Leverage digital and machine learning techniques to improve capacity
  • Assist building external funding proposals
  • Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools. Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
  • Participate in sharing & documenting lessons learnt into relevant design practices & design boards

Required Qualifications
  • PhD/Post graduate degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong technical background in Fluid Dynamics, high fidelity simulation and turbulence modeling
  • Experience on using commercial/in-house CFD tools in simulating turbomachinery flows (1D, 2D & 3D) and design applications
  • Ability to own end-to end CFD processes involving CAD, Meshing, user defined functions and post processing scripts
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-learning abilities and shown track record for technical excellence
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with strong communication and presentation skills

Desired Characteristics
  • Hands on experience of simulating complex unsteady, multistage flows involving cavities & tip leakages
  • Exposure and understanding of higher fidelity CFD methods like Large Eddy Simulation (LES)
  • Exposure to Computational Aero Acoustics
  • Excellent coding skills in Python/C
  • Experience of using Machine learning methods and optimization techniques
  • Be flexible and adapt to work on other critical priorities
  • Ability to collaborate and co-ordinate tasks involving global team members
