Role Overview
The Adobe Product Owner owns the strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end delivery of marketing capabilities within our Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem (primarily AEM, Marketo, and associated tools). This role is responsible for defining what capabilities are needed, why they matter, and how success is measured across our Adobe stack.
You will translate marketing and business needs into clear functional requirements while actively managing project timelines, resources, risks, and cross-functional delivery to ensure our Adobe investments deliver measurable business value.
How You'll Work
- With Marketing & GTM Teams: Partner with Growth, Product Marketing, and Marketing Operations to understand business needs and translate them into prioritized capabilities and requirements within the Adobe ecosystem.
- With Adobe Architect & Developers: Work closely with Adobe Solution Architect, AEM/Marketo Developers, and Integration Specialist to define requirements, acceptance criteria, and delivery sequencing, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines.
- With Vendors & Internal Stakeholders: Manage relationships with Adobe, Adobe Managed Services (AMS), and specialized implementation partners. Align partner roadmaps and platform investments to business priorities and measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Roadmap Management
- Vision & Roadmap: Define and maintain the 12-month roadmap for the Adobe Experience Cloud ecosystem, prioritizing features based on ROI, marketing impact, and technical feasibility. Maintain a prioritized backlog based on business impact, effort, risk, and dependencies.
- Stakeholder Discovery: Lead discovery sessions with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to identify pain points and translate them into Adobe-specific product requirements (e.g., campaign workflows, segmentation, personalization, reporting).
- Vendor Relationship Management: Manage the Adobe vendor relationship, optimize Adobe licensing tiers, evaluate consolidation opportunities, and track Adobe's product roadmap for beta opportunities.
- Business Analysis & Requirements Engineering
- User Stories & PRDs: Write PRDs and user stories tailored to Adobe solutions (e.g., defining AEM components, Adobe Target personalization rules, or Marketo engagement programs).
- Logic Design: Design the Blueprints for the system, mapping logic specifically between Marketo, AEM, CRM (Salesforce), and downstream systems.
- Process Mapping & Optimization: Document As-Is and To-Be marketing workflows. Analyze existing workflows to identify bottlenecks and design automated solutions to improve speed-to-lead and content velocity.
- Execution & Project Management
- Project Planning & Tracking: Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocations for Adobe platform rollouts, upgrades, and feature enhancements.
- Agile Leadership: Act as the Product Owner in sprint ceremonies, managing the backlog and making real-time trade-off decisions during development.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Lead project status meetings, coordinate development sprints, and align QA, marketing, and IT resources to meet key project milestones.
- Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify project risks, technical dependencies (especially between Adobe tools and core data systems), and bottlenecks. Develop mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery.
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT) & Change Management: Define UAT criteria, lead business validation, and drive the rollout of new capabilities, including training documentation for end-users.
- Performance & ROI Analysis
- Value Tracking: Define and track Adobe-specific KPIs (e.g., Increase in content velocity via AEM, Lift in conversion via Adobe Target, Reduction in manual data entry).
- Utilization Audits: Regularly analyze Adobe platform usage to identify shelfware, optimize license costs, and ensure adoption.
- Data Governance: Partner with Analytics and Data Engineering to ensure reliable data flows from Adobe tools into the enterprise data warehouse, driving improvements in data quality, field mapping, and consent signals.
What We Are Looking For
- Technical & Analytical Mastery
- Adobe Experience Cloud Mastery: Deep, hands-on understanding of the Adobe ecosystem. Must have specific expertise in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Marketo Engage, with a strong working knowledge of Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, or Adobe Experience Platform (AEP).
- Integration & Data Fluency: Strong grasp of lifecycle automation, integration patterns between Adobe and CRM (Salesforce), event tracking, identity resolution, and consent/compliance impacts (GDPR/CCPA).
- Adobe Certifications: Adobe Certified Expert (e.g., Marketo Engage Business Practitioner, AEM Business Practitioner) certifications are highly preferred.
- Product & Project Management
- Project Management Expertise: Proven experience in traditional and agile project management methodologies. PMP, PRINCE2, or Scrum Master (CSM) certifications are a strong plus.
- Requirements Strategy: Mastery of business analysis techniques, process mapping, and writing clear user stories with actionable acceptance criteria.
- Tool Mastery: Proficiency in project management and backlog tools such as Jira, Confluence, Asana, or Adobe Workfront.
- Communication & Leadership
- The Translator Ability: Exceptional skill in explaining technical constraints to Marketers and marketing goals to Engineers. You bridge the gap between Business Need and Technical Build.
- Stakeholder Alignment & Negotiation: Experience managing conflicting priorities across departments and aligning non-technical stakeholders with technical teams through crisp documentation.
- Project Leadership: Ability to manage multiple workstreams and vendor relationships simultaneously without losing sight of deadlines or measurable outcomes.
Required Skills
- Years of Experience: 7+ years in Digital Marketing Operations, MarTech, or Technical Project Management, with at least 4+ years specifically managing or acting as a Product Owner/Project Manager for enterprise Adobe Experience Cloud implementations.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects from discovery through deployment, translating high-level business goals into detailed requirements and on-time delivery.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Business, Marketing, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
