About the Company

Walchand Group's Walchand PeopleFirst Ltd. is a publicly listed professional development, skilling, and consulting organization with a rich 100+ year legacy rooted in India's nation-building history. Since 2003, Walchand PeopleFirst has served as the exclusive Master Franchisee of Dale Carnegie Training in India, delivering workplace learning and leadership solutions. Its ecosystem also includes Walchand PLUS, a specialized division focused on corporate social responsibility skilling, employability, and sustainable livelihoods. The organization operates across a people-centric environment guided by Fairness, Ownership, Respect, Grit and Agility, and Excellence. These values shape how teams build trusted relationships, manage accountability, and deliver outcomes. Finance plays an important role in supporting this ecosystem through accurate accounting, disciplined taxation, reliable reporting, strong statutory compliance, and sound operational controls. The organization combines the reach of a respected global learning brand with the governance expectations of a listed Indian company, creating a setting where finance professionals can contribute to both operational rigor and sustainable business progress.

About the Role

The Accounts & Tax Lead will own end-to-end accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, audit coordination, financial reporting, and operational finance for a listed organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role ensures that financial controls, statutory obligations, and management information remain accurate, timely, and decision-ready. The role requires a hands-on Chartered Accountant who can manage GST, income tax, statutory payments, audits, reconciliations, and reporting while partnering with internal stakeholders. Success means filings and payments are completed on schedule, audit observations close promptly, financial statements withstand review, cash flows remain visible, and management receives clear MIS and variance insight. The role also supports overseas reporting and inter-company reconciliations, while leading a finance team with ownership, precision, and a compliance-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end accounting and statutory compliance through disciplined close processes, documented controls, and timely reviews, ensuring accurate books and reduced regulatory exposure for a listed entity.
  • Govern TDS, PF, PT, GST, income tax, foreign remittance taxation, and related filings through defined calendars and reconciliations, protecting the organization from penalties, gaps, and avoidable disputes.
  • Lead statutory, tax, and internal audits by coordinating auditors, consultants, and authorities, ensuring evidence is complete and observations are resolved within agreed timelines.
  • Review limited review results, notes to accounts, cash flow, taxation, and consolidated financials, converting accounting accuracy into dependable reporting for the CFO and senior stakeholders.
  • Oversee MIS, budgets, variance analysis, and financial trend reporting through structured dashboards, enabling management to identify performance movements, risks, and corrective actions early.
  • Manage cash flows, banking, customer collections, and vendor payments through prioritised controls, improving liquidity visibility and supporting reliable business operations.
  • Direct overseas reporting and inter-company reconciliations through consistent schedules and ownership, reducing mismatches and improving the integrity of consolidated financial information.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Fully qualified Chartered Accountant with 7+ years of post-qualification experience, including mandatory experience in listed companies and ownership of accounting, tax, compliance, and audit outcomes.
  • Strong hands-on capability with Tally, Income Tax, GST, Ind AS, Companies Act requirements, statutory compliance, cash-flow management, and audit processes.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with the analytical communication skills required to explain variances, risks, reporting conclusions, and compliance priorities to senior stakeholders.
  • Practical knowledge of GST returns, reconciliations, annual filings, LUT registrations, tax audits using Form 3CD, assessments, and foreign remittance taxation requirements.
  • Ability to manage statutory payments, regulatory updates, financial close activities, consolidated reporting, inter-company reconciliations, and audit documentation with consistent accuracy.

Additional Plus

  • Experience managing overseas reporting, foreign remittance taxation, inter-company reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities or jurisdictions.
  • Exposure to limited reviews, tax assessments, Form 3CD tax audits, regulatory interactions, and board-level timelines in a listed-company environment.
  • Experience improving finance calendars, reconciliations, reporting controls, or audit-closure mechanisms to make compliance more predictable and transparent.

What You'll Bring

  • A fully qualified Chartered Accountant with at least seven years of post-qualification experience, including mandatory experience within listed companies and ownership of regulated finance deliverables.
  • Hands-on command of Tally, Income Tax, GST, Ind AS, Companies Act compliance, statutory payments, audits, tax assessments, financial reporting, and cash-flow management.
  • At least three years of people-management experience, with the ability to set expectations, review output, develop capability, and maintain accountability during demanding reporting cycles.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, supported by the ability to convert detailed financial information into concise MIS, variance analysis, trend reporting, and management recommendations.
  • A compliance-first mindset with high attention to detail, personal ownership, and the judgement to escalate risks before they affect filings, cash, reporting quality, or stakeholder confidence.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder-management skills for working with the CFO, internal teams, auditors, consultants, regulatory authorities, customers, vendors, banks, and overseas counterparts.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, people-centric organization where finance must balance rigorous control with practical business partnership and responsive execution.

Why Join Us

Walchand PeopleFirst offers the opportunity to contribute to a publicly listed organization with a rich 100+ year legacy and a meaningful role in professional development, skilling, consulting, employability, and sustainable livelihoods. As the exclusive Master Franchisee of Dale Carnegie Training in India since 2003, the organization combines a globally respected learning brand with deep local operating context. This is a broad finance mandate rather than a narrow accounting position, with influence across taxation, statutory compliance, audits, reporting, cash management, and business partnering. Reporting to the CFO, you will help strengthen the financial mechanisms that support confidence, continuity, and growth. The role provides scope to improve processes, build reporting visibility, develop a finance team, and work with senior stakeholders, auditors, consultants, authorities, customers, vendors, and overseas counterparts. You will operate within values of Fairness, Ownership, Respect, Grit and Agility, and Excellence, in an environment where accuracy, accountability, and practical collaboration matter. Your work will directly support the organization's governance and its wider learning and social-impact ecosystem.

What We Offer

  • A broad finance mandate reporting to the CFO, with ownership across accounting, taxation, audits, reporting, cash flow, compliance, and operational finance.
  • Opportunity to work within a publicly listed organization connected to Dale Carnegie Training, Walchand PLUS, professional development, skilling, consulting, and social-impact initiatives.
  • A hybrid working arrangement based in Mumbai, within a values-led organization that emphasizes Fairness, Ownership, Respect, Grit and Agility, and Excellence.
  • Scope to strengthen controls, improve reporting visibility, lead a finance team, and support business growth while protecting compliance and stakeholder confidence.
