Role Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Accounting Team Lead who can independently own full-cycle month-end close while leading a small accounting team and strengthening financial processes across the function.

This is a working leadership role. You will carry your own areas of the close and review the work of the accountants alongside you, reporting to the client's Controller or finance lead. It suits professionals who combine strong technical accounting fundamentals with the judgment to hold a team to a standard and the instinct to fix a process rather than work around it.

Key Responsibilities

• Own full month-end and year-end close under US GAAP, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Lead a small accounting team — assign the close work, hold the calendar, and deliver a complete close on schedule
• Provide first-line review over journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by the team
• Mentor and develop junior accountants, raise the standard of their output, and give the Controller an honest read on where each person stands
• Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) end-to-end
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and prepare supporting schedules
• Prepare financial statements and management reports for US stakeholders
• Perform variance analysis and explain the key financial movements behind it
• Maintain audit-ready documentation, prepare PBC deliverables, and respond to auditor queries in your areas
• Build and maintain close checklists and SOPs so the function does not depend on any single individual
• Identify and implement process improvements across accounting workflows

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of accounting experience with strong US GAAP exposure
• Proven ability to own full-cycle close independently
• Experience reviewing, supervising, or mentoring other accountants
• Experience working with US-based companies or international stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to overlap with US business hours

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA, CA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification
• Formal experience managing a small accounting team
• Experience with deferred revenue, subscription accounting, or recurring revenue models
• Experience supporting an audit, including PBC preparation and direct auditor contact
• Background in SaaS, E-commerce, Fintech, or CPG industries
• Prior process improvement experience
