Schedule: Night shift

Job description:

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable & Billing

  • Prepare and issue monthly customer invoices and progress draws in accordance with project schedules and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payment.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and clients to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Apply finance charges where applicable for overdue accounts.
  • Maintain accurate receivables records within the accounting system.

Project Accounting & Financial Analysis

  • Enter and maintain project budgets and budget revisions in the accounting system.
  • Review cost entries and ensure all costs are coded accurately by project and cost code.
  • Generate and maintain project financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct variance analysis, comparing actual project costs to budgeted amounts and ensuring cost-to-complete estimates remain sufficient through project completion.
  • Track and manage construction holdback accounts and coordinate holdback releases with subcontractors, Project Managers, and the accounting team.

Project Reporting & Budget Monitoring

  • Prepare monthly project reporting, including cost-to-date versus billings-to-date analysis.
  • Monitor project budgets and proactively communicate potential budget overruns to the project management team.
  • Participate in weekly budget meetings to provide financial updates and insights.
  • Assist with preparation of project proformas, budget projections, and cash flow forecasts.

Financial Planning & Forecasting

  • Assist with long-range financial modelling and cash flow analysis.
  • Support the annual budgeting process.
  • Prepare active project proformas and development cash flow models.
  • Participate in monthly financial reviews with Development Managers.

Qualification and requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 25 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, real estate development, or project-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, budgeting, and cost tracking.
  • Experience with progress billing / construction draws is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with Acumatica ERP is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with project managers, development teams, and accounting staff.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Non-negotiable skills & requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 25 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, real estate development, or project-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting, budgeting, and cost tracking.
  • Experience with progress billing / construction draws is considered a strong asset.
